I want the baby uggs too now! But husband would be so mad if I got them. He's so darn practical/reasonable and doesn't think we should spend much on new clothes/shoes since baby will grow out of them so quickly. So I have to be really careful about what I buy/spend on unnecessary but adorably cute and irresistible items. Sigh.... Luckily my mom will probably oblige me in this department.

We are also doing the "integrated" testing which takes the NT scan and 12 week blood test + tomorrow's 16 week blood test to measure risk of down's and other abnormalities. Why is there SO MUCH to worry about?! To think, it's just the beginning of a lifetime of worrying about one's baby/babies.

I had my 16 week yesterday, but I've been opting out of the genetic testing and so can't speak to that. I did get to hear the baby via doppler for the first time, though it was instead of the usual ultrasound, so mixed bag

@travelingbrit: Welcome to the group! I actually spent 2nd to 6th grade living in the UK, so I'm always happy to meet British expats over here.

@chopsuey119: Yay! I can identify with your "phew!"

I just made my first completely unnecessary and somewhat expensive (but purchased on sale) cute girl clothing purchase. I just keep thinking, what if the sonographer was WRONG? I guess I can always return the clothes but I don't want to!!!

    @chopsuey119: Congrats!!!!!

I just got my triple screen results..They're great! She has a 1/10000 chance of Downs! I'm SO RELIEVED!!!!

@gracecat: I think the same thing- lol!!!

@jholler25 so glad to hear! I know you were worried, but you had nothing to worry about.

I had my second blood draw today for triple screen. I wonder when I'll hear back?

I'm counting down the days until my Gender U/S. Even though I will be very happy with any child that I have, I would love it if the NT ultrasound tech was mistaken and it's a GIRL and not a boy. So many cuter girls clothes!

July 14th! 19 days to go!

  14. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@travelingbrit: My second draw was on Friday and the nurse said that it typically takes 3-4 bus days, but sometimes when they send it out on a Friday, it comes back sooner- like maybe the lab just goes ahead and runs it over the weekend. She had literally just gotten my results at the end of the day yesterday, so hopefully for you it will be a short wait too:) SOOOOO exciting that your gender u/s is coming up! Just so you know - I had a VERY BOY nub on my NT scan and the u/s tech said that she was 80% sure it was a boy. We are definitely having a little pink monkey, so I think you're 50/50 even though your tech said that! I know your mom is going with you...Is your DH going to be able to make it too?

  15. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@jholler25 That makes me feel a little more hopeful - I'm itching to find out for sure so that I can buy stuff. Well, so that my mom can buy stuff - I'm an only child so Grandma is going to spoil this one.

Yes, my partner (Alex) will be coming to the U/S too. Despite working all the way in Boca, he hasn't missed an appointment yet! We did things a little out of order, so we're not married yet. We've been living together for almost 3 years and we are planning on getting married once the baby's born. I want to be able to enjoy the wedding (and drink lots of champagne).

  16. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@travelingbrit: for us, the dr said it'd take 1-2 weeks to get the results of the 2nd blood draw. not sure if its just a california thing, but our results go to the state first (maybe to get interpreted?) before we find out. and also i'm hoping for a girl too! we won't find out till the end though but i think i'm going to buy one girly take home outfit, just in case we need it

it'll be fun to see the gender stats of the dec mamas! i think so far its 2 girls - jholler and gracecat, and 1 boy - cyneswith!

@Kodybear So you're Team Green? I'm so proud/envious of you! Growing up, I always thought that if I became a mom I would want it to be a surprise. The reality of the situation is that I have so much anxiety surrounding this pregnancy, every little bit of knowledge helps calm my fears.

I keep counting down the days. Counting down to my first ultrasound, to my NT scan, to my anatomy scan, to V-day - All while feeling a little bit like it's not quite real.
For whatever reason, it's weird to think of myself as pregnant. I didn't think it would be an easy possibility because of medical issues and I keep having to remind myself that I am preggers.

It's especially hard right now because I'm out of the messy, feeling sick and exhausted first trimester and I feel mostly normal. I have no bump and I don't feel anything yet. When I have a visible bump and can feel the baby it will feel a little more real.

Is anyone else feeling the baby move yet? If so - How far along are you?

  18. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@travelingbrit: yep! haha not by choice. my hubs is really excited about being team green so i'm going with it. i'm such a planner tho that it kills me inside. but i know he'll be so happy to wait till the end to find out so thats why i'm abiding.

i agree tho, i don't feel very pregnant either. this week in particular for some reason i'm having extra anxiety on whether the baby is ok! good thing i have a home doppler so i just check that the baby is doing okay. but yah no movement really yet. sometimes i feel like i may have felt the baby, but its so slight and doesn't happen very often that i'm not really sure. i can't wait till i feel the baby more!

@travelingbrit: I have felt some flutters and I'm 15 weeks, but it's twins. I definitely have a bump even tho I haven't really gained any weight yet (I had some lovely morning sickness in the first trimester)!

I haven't felt any movement at all at 17w2d, but I have an anterior placenta, so the doc said it would likely take me longer than most. I do suddenly have a bump though. Three different people have asked me if I was pregnant this week.`

Just booked my early gender ultrasound. Saturday 14th July at 10.30 I will know the gender and shopping shall commence! I am nervous and excited.

In other news, we moved this weekend and are living in a sea of boxes that I have absolutely no energy to unpack.

I'm almost 17 weeks and had someone give up their seat for me on the subway for the first time! Just a day earlier, I had zero baby bump (I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and I don't look pregnant at all in the photos). Apparently my bump poked out overnight! It probably helped that I was wearing a maxi dress with a high waistband that accentuated the bump, but it was still surprising and fun to get offered a subway seat.

  23. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

@travelingbrit: So excited for you to find out! Be careful with the shopping though, I am paranoid that the sonographer was wrong and I'll have to return everything, hehe.

My SIL is also pregnant (just a few weeks behind me) and I'm dying to know their baby's sex but they probably won't find out until late August!

  24. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@MsInformation: for me too it seems like it depends on what i wear. but it seems that a lot more people are noticing these days and comment on the bump! which is exciting!

we're having our anatomy scan on monday! kind of worried that they'll find something wrong with the baby, but at the same time excited to see the baby again! ugh and i've kind of come to terms with the team green thing, but kind of hoping for some sort of slip up or sneak peak at that area! (i'm the type of person who looks up who got eliminated from american idol or amazing race WHILE i'm watching the episode! i can't take suspense!)

@travelingbrit: YAY! Where are you going to? I went to a place called 4D Picture Perfect in Lauderdale and I was wondering if that's where you were going. We got what we wanted which was to see the gender, but the place was really weird in that- for example - no one wore scrubs, they were all in street clothes, and when we went into the room, about 3 girls all came in. Only one was the tech, and the other 2 just worked there and wanted to "see." It was awkward. I thought it would just be me and DH and the u/s tech would be all, "It's a girl!" and we'd hug and have a special moment. Nope. It was annoying that they all piled in there and were talking amongst themselves and being loud. It just wasn't super-professional, I guess, but we did see the baby's goods. We didn't get good photos because she moved, and I even went back 2 days later and asked them to try to get a better photo to convince me and they did it free of charge (which was nice, but I felt I was definitely owed a good pic!)....So even though they were super-weird, it definitely appears that we have a girl:)

And if you're not going there, then I apologize for rambling- lol! But wherever you go, heads up if more than one person comes in the room! I wish I would have said something like, "Do you guys mind if it's just me and my husband in here?"

  26. wheres_c

    pomelo / 5789 posts

@gracecat I'll make sure to keep receipts and tags....I'm paranoid too.

@jholler25 that's exactly where we are going. Good to know what to expect going in. We are going with my mom since she's visiting, so I already am not expecting an intimate moment between the two of us. The reviews of the other places in our area weren't appealing...this was the only place I found with decent reviews.

I will definitely speak up if they are too loud r ruining the experience. I'll let you know how it goes.

No moving yet, and our doc won't do our gender scan until Aug 14th, at 20w2days. I wish they weren't so conservative about it, especially since y'all are already finding out!

  28. wheres_c

@MaisyMay: mine wouldn't do it till 21 weeks....but it's about 60 bucks at a private clinic to do it early

    GOLD / cantaloupe / 6703 posts

@travelingbrit: I know, and I've thought about it, but I go in for a u/s check up every 3 weeks and don't really want to do an elective one if possible. They won't check early though.

  30. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@travelingbrit: I was surprised at how few places there are around us! That's why I thought it might be the same place, especially when you said Saturday. There are a ton in Miami, but the thought of having to drive to Miami just makes me want to crawl in bed and sleep for 3 days- lol.

I don't want to give you anxiety! The girls are just VERY loud (I think some of them are sisters and they all talk in the same LOUD voice and they talk a lot- it was distracting because they are a rambunctious (sp?) little group. So just to make it as enjoyable as possible for you and your mom, I would just recommend not letting them all trickle in after you. I kept wanting to watch the baby on the screen and they kept asking me 1 million and 5 questions like, "How did your NT scan go? Does your family live here?" And when the baby wouldn't uncross her legs for like 20 minutes, they all told stories about other ultrasounds they each did where the babies were stubborn. It sounds innocent enough but when you're so anxious and just wanting to watch your baby, it's mega annoying! I thought about posting a review and saying that...Maybe they just don't know?? I wish I would have just nipped it in the bud and been like, "You know what? You guys are really nice, but is there any way that it can be just me and him in here? It's hard to concentrate on watching the baby...I'm sorry!" Because at the end of the day, I'll probably never see them again.

@jholler25 nice to hear in the "Bump Love" thread that your bump is growing and that you're starting to feel kicks.

I'm getting increasingly worried that I don't seem to be getting bigger, nor do I seem to feel any kicks. I'm 18 weeks today. I thought I would have developed a little more by now.
I'm going for my elective gender Saturday, so I am praying little one is still happy and healthy and growing in there.

  32. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@travelingbrit: i wouldn't worry about it! altho i've felt some movement, i haven't felt any strong kicks. when i went to my anatomy scan i learned i had an anterior placenta (baby is behind the placenta) so it takes longer to feel movement. so maybe that's what you have too. in any case some people don't feel movement till like 20-22 weeks! but i'm glad you're going to get a u/s soon so you will have some relief!

our anatomy scan went well on monday! its def the coolest scan yet. they go from head to toe checking for everything it seems. altho i haven't heard from the dr officially, our u/s tech told us off the record everything looked good. baby looked like they were sunbathing in there. right now the baby is lying with their head on my right and feet on my left. hopefully they turn in the next couple months! still team green and i don't think the u/s tech put it in our records so i guess we really won't know till the end. haha sad.
