I'm a novice at decorating. I'm finally feeling pretty good about most of the house but I still have this section above my cabinets to tackle. What would you add? I was think of a sign or something on the wall... but what?

@BabyBoecksMom: hmm. I'm not sure I'd hang anything up there because it might be hard to find something that is to scale. Could you get some larger things to place on top of the cabinets maybe? I'm thinking something closer to the size of your clock.

I'd do some kind of art, but I would prop it against the wall instead of hanging. And, I agree... scale of the clock is good.

I'd place the 1) clock above the fridge. And either 2) create a collection of cake stands, candle holders, large baskets, or vases above the cabinets in various heights or 3) spell out a phrase using big blocks.
Possible phrases: Bon Appetito (I say this before meals- the o is on purpose)

There are a ton of options for signs and the like available now, check out Ballard Designs, they have a ton.
I personally prefer a cleaner look up there, I think the items you have are too small.

I think it would look a bit better if you layered it with some larger scale art pieces or a collection of ceramic vases. I agree with @looch that the items are too small on its own.
