The usual recommendation is around 8 weeks of pregnancy or later. However, when it's as early as you're talking about, I honestly think the chances of it having an effect are nil. But your best bet is to call and ask.

I havd a dentist in the family and he works on pregnant women all the time. The only extra step he takes is to use an extra large apron to protect the uterus during x rays (of course the x rays are so small and focused it's not even really necessary, but yeah). Waiting to get dental care can be more dangerous because you could get a serious infection in your jaw, lose teeth, etc.

With my 2nd LO, I had a problem with a crown right after I found out I was pregnant and the dentist refused to replace it. So I had to wait until after the baby was born. That said, they insisted I come in every 3 months for cleanings. But this was in Europe...so who knows.

I would get all dental work done ASAP if you’re TTC. Dental health is super important while pregnant and problems can exacerbate (bleeding gums etc). I had to get a crown while 25 weeks and I think my gums and teeth were way more sensitive afterwards because of the hormones. It was unavoidable but if you can get in for your cleaning and X-rays now, do it!

Also I did get X-rays and they doubled down on the heavy vest, didn’t seem concerned.

I would say regardless of what procedure you're even having done, get the dental work done. 1) you might be TTC for a long time and you don't want to delay oral issues ever and 2) you don't really want to do that stuff pregnant so best to get it over in case you do get pregnant quickly. I had deep cleanings both times I was pregnant and it was no biggie (I don't have any infections or issues tho) Good luck
