DD is 3 and has been potty trained for a month or so now. She's fiercely independent and often goes potty by herself and often won't let us help. Last night in the bath I noticed her bottom and vagina are really red and sore. She cried saying it hurt when I asked to look at it. I'm assuming this is probably from not wiping properly. Or it could be irritation from the Kandoo wipes we have. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I put something on it? I was afraid to put diaper cream on it because it'd just get all over her undies.

I would just use a pull-up or diaper with the cream til it clears.

We have this problem routinely. It comes from LO either not wiping, or wiping too hard. We put diaper rash cream on her overnight and it's usually clear by morning. We have a couple of pair of underwear that are "stained" from this. They are now the ones we use for this purpose.

I'd imagine it was from the wipes, personally. Can you switch to slightly wet toilet paper, or a very soft rag?

Yup, from not wiping properly. My daughter had this issue a ton. When I was still doing diaper sat night I put diaper cream then. On non bath nights I also wipe her down with a diaper wipe.
