We used the playtex ventaire bottles with LO and there is going to be a 4.5 year gap between them, should i throw out LO's bottles or reuse for them LO # 2 and just replace the nipples?

Lon2 ended up not taking what we had so yes we had to get all new. Maybe keep 2-4 bottles but replace nipples is that's what baby likes.

I reused everything, even the nipples. No issues.
I'm glad I kept them because they discontinued the Ventairs I used (and loved) and the new version ssssuuuccckkkssss

@T.H.O.U.: Thanks good idea
@Charm54: Yeah i just noticed that the new ventaire bottles are much wider than the old ones

Il use what we have until I see what kind she takes, then I'll buy new nipples. DD only used a bottle for about 6 months and they're only 2 years old.

We reused everything, including nipples. I had planned to resterilize, but never got to it.

@Ms maths: Same. But we had a 2 year gap. I think 4.5 years is still fine, unless you use latex nipples.

All of hers were donated, so no we won't. I only used them because I dried up, hopefully next time will be easier.

I have tossed all the nipples but will reuse the bottles. No LO 2 happening right now.

@Mrsbells: I guess I'm the odd one out but we didn't even use the same bottles the whole time that dd took bottles. They start to look worn and retain something of a smell too. And I think the nipples do stretch out if you hand wash. It's probably fine, but IMO bottles weren't going to break the bank and we knew we would be likely to EFF.

@2littlepumpkins: we did handwash ours too but i didnt notice any stretching, I did replace nipples that got old though. Otherwise we just threw them in hot water to sterilize them every now and then and they bottles still seemed new by the time we stopped bottle feeding

@Mrsbells: we did a combo of hand washing and using the dishwasher and I think the times we used the dishwasher did a number on them! Like I said it's probably completely fine. It's more of a personal preference for me.

We used "new" bottles because I HATED the Dr Brown bottles we used with our first. However, they were only new to us- they were hand me down Avent bottles from a friend (I just replaced the nipples).

I would probably just replace the nipple since DS chews on them pretty vigorously and call it a day.

Going through this now. Just pulled out all the old Dr Brown bottles I used for L who is now 4 years old. Decided to toss them out and buy them new because they looked kinda filmy. I'm sure they are fine but it's only $15 for a new set of 4 bottles so I figure it won't break the bank

Planned to reuse them, but when I pulled them out of storage, they had a film and smell to them. I sterilized them but they still seemed funky, so I tossed them and bought all new. Glad I did, too, because D used the Tommee Tippee anti-colic with all the parts, and A doesn't need that. So MUCH easier washing!

I got new bottles. Both of our babies were EFF. There are 3.5 years apart and the old bottles looked questionable.

We tossed ours when C weaned. They were tore the eff up by the end. I would have considered just replacing the inner/softer pieces and nipples (Dr Browns) if ours hadn't have been so beat up.

#2 will be 25 months younger; all our bottles are in good condition so I'm planning to re-use all.

I got new bottles because our old Avent ones were piddly to use with the washer thing. The newer ones don't have them. We also used Tommee Tippee bottles too, so we got new ones of those.

Yeah I saw the new ventairs are different and saw they had horrible reviews. Going to hold on to my old ones then. I LOVED them. Glad I saw this as well!

We reused the bottles and got new nipples. We would have reused them too, except that they had yellowed and started cracking.

DD to DS1 - no, I tried offering DD's bottle (Tommee Tippee_ along with a couple other brands. He liked the mOmma bottle best so I had to buy a whole new set.
DS1 to DS2 - yep, same bottles just new nipples. I actually started him off with a medium flow bc this time around my letdown is much stronger and overall I have more bm supply.
