T has some bad dry skin on his face and now has cradle cap. I know this all clears up on its own...he's only 7 weeks. But should I treat it in the meantime? What did you do?

I wanted to slather her in cream but my Dr told me to leave it alone. It went away around 4-5 weeks.

E gets eczema and alongside the red patches behind her knees she has dry skin all over. We use E45 cream on her every time we change her nappy - we play the "dibby dabby" game - which is how we put cream on her face without her protesting! For her cradle cap we use Dentinox shampoo.

Xander has eczema, so we use Aquaphor. His cheeks used to be the worst, but now at 13 months, they look pretty good. His eczema is now worse on his arms and back.
As for cradle cap, I tried some jojoba oil and a fine-tooth comb, but I didn't it only sparingly and I'm not sure it really helped. It eventually cleared up on its own.

My daughter had patches of super dry, scaly skin and none of the regular baby lotions or aquafor helped. I broke down and bought L'occitane's mom and baby baby balm and it healed all of her skin within a few days. It's expensive ($20 for a small tin) but it worked so well it was worth it to me. Now I just use less pricey lotion on her daily for maintenance and use the balm on rough spots as they appear, and on her cheeks, which get chapped easily.

DD1 had awful cradle cap - the whole top of her head looked like a scaly lizard! Fortunately, she had a ridiculous amount of hair so no one ever saw it. We tried olive oil a couple of times but it didn't seem to do anything, and made her hair a mess, so we just left it. I haven't checked recently, but it was still there, albeit to a lesser degree, last time I checked which was right around 18 months. Unless it's super noticeable, I'd just leave it.

I used Mustela's Stelaker lotion for the cradle cap. It went away in two weeks.

The baby had bad cradle cap. I got fed up a few weeks ago and made a paste with baking soda and water. Then put him in the bath and combed it through and shampooed as normal. It worked wonders, and it's gone now. But his was probably in the advanced stages already. Also, he did lose a bit of hair in the process, since some of it was attached to the scales.

DD had cradle cap and we combed olive oil through it with a fine comb. It went away quickly. I waited until she was four months hoping it would go away on it's own. It didn't, but the olive oil trick was really easy.

LO had mild cradle cap and I knew it would go away on its own, but we would slather his head in coconut oil before bath time and comb out the flakes before we washed his hair. We did this once or twice a week and it cleared up around 6 or 7 months.

Someone gave us this cradle cap stuff. We would put it on her hair/head at the beginning of bath. I don't remember the name. But I have the bottle at home.

I occasionally picked at some of the flaky parts while he was nursing, but mostly I let it go away on its own.

DS had a fairly mild but very persistent cradle cap -- we did the olive oil thing once or twice a week for a few weeks but I feel like it was the Mustela foaming shampoo for newborns. It's got some enzymes that help clear the dead skin gently. We used it every night and it cleared it up quickly and has kept it clear, and he never got irritated skin (he's very sensitive everywhere else...but what baby isn't haha). We use California Baby lotion for dry skin. For cradle cap we would apply olive oil about ten minutes before bath, let it sit for a little bit, comb out the flakes then wash hair. It worked well!

@Mrs. Yoyo: He is adorable! Look at all that hair - I'm so jealous! He has more hair than my 2 year old (who just had his first haircut a few weeks ago)!
