I was a huge fan of the Berenstain Bears when I was younger but now I think they are kinda boring.
I read a few (New Baby, Manners and Week at Grandma's) to my LOs......my 2.5 year old loves them!

I loved them so much growing up!! I actually have all of my books from childhood! Reading them as an adult ... eh. They're kind of preachy!

Read them when I was in Elementary school, and enjoyed them! Haven't picked them up since then. Might when DS is older!

Nope. My mom ruined them for me. She informed me recently that she tried not to let us have many because she thought they did a serious disservice to fathers because the books always make the father bear out to be a total doofus.

My older sister used to read them to me and then I to her as I got older, so they hold a special place in my heart! I haven't gotten one out and read one in a loooonnnngggg time though!

Aww I love them! I have my whole collection from when I was little too. LO tore one of the pages so I put them on the high shelf for a little while longer.

Loved them when I was a kid. We only have one or two for DS so far.

I loved them when I was a kid. They cover so many real-life topics! The ones about strangers and nightmares actually helped me, I think. And the one about junk food. And the Christmas one.
But, as an adult I sort of agree with mamamoose - they portray the father as being borderline intellectually disabled. I've never liked movies/books where the parents and stupid and the kids are smart. But on the other hand - I think it's almost good for kids to be exposed to the idea that just because someone is an adult it doesn't mean, in any way, that they have their ish together. I know too many Papa Bears. Ha ha.
I'm sure I'll read them to my kids.

Loved them when I was a kid and my mom gave me my whole childhood collection. Am half afraid to start reading them with LO and find all sorts of adult faults with them

Loved them growing up and bought a huge book of multiple stories, and both LO and I find them a tad boring now.

I loved them! loved the cartoon too! And definitely had most or all the books.

I loved them so much when I was a kid. I used to record myself reading them. Don't remember why though
I think I have almost all of them still saved up for our LO.

@Starfish: hahaha, that is funny! Do you still have the recordings?

Loved them so much growing up! Liked the cartoon series too!

I hate them. I think they are boring, preachy, and model an unhealthy dynamic between the parents.
Hey, you did ask!

I liked them as a kid, but when I looked at them recently when choosing books for my daughter, I was pretty disappointed.

oh wow, yes. I have a huuuuge collection of Berenstein Bear books! It's actually all still on a shelf in the hallway at my parents house. I was just looking for book gifts for DH's 2nd cousin and saw Richard Scarry books. I LOOOOVED those too! Especially Lowly Worm!

@Bao: I loved Little Critter as a kid too! And my mom bought LO some and he loves them! We read "Just Go to Bed" almost every night!

Hugeeee fan! The older ones rhyme, like The Berenstein Bear's Picnic. It's so crazy to read those and then read the ones who were published after that (like the ones that have Sister Bear and Honey Bear)

@cmomma17: that one was always my favorite!!! We surprisingly don't own that one yet.

We can't read them because they all have paper pages - only board books are safe in our house right now!

I LOVE them! M won't sit still long enough yet for me to get through an entire book, though.

@grizz: ya, I have to read paperbacks when LO 2 is sleeping. She ripped up LO 1's Knuffle Bunny book!

DD is on a total kick right now with them and I don't mind. I just find as an adult they seem a bit long winded at times.
