We did and had no problems.

Yes for LO 1 but we didn't share LO 2's name with my family until after she was born.

We've been sharing and no one has had a bad reaction. Well, except for DH's mom, who has done everything short of coming out and saying she doesn't like it... But hey, she got to name her kids, we get to name ours!

I also know a ton of pregnant women who are having boys right now, and while I'm not trying to call dibs - they are all more than welcome to call their babies Leo as well - I want to avoid an awkward situation/feeling like a copycat if someone else gets there first.

Only told my bff and her husband when we asked them to be her Godparents about a month before she was born.

Nope and will do the same if we have another.

No- we kept their names to ourselves until each of our daughters were born.

We have not shared it and it hasn't been an issue. There are a few reasons why not, but I think it will be special to be able to announce the name for the first time at birth. I have shared with some random people like my hairdresser and some hbers though!

We didn't share with anyone IRL. (I did set up a HB poll though!)

People will tell you if they don't like the name before it's official, but they won't tell you that once it's on the birth certificate. We waited til it was too late for feedback. We also didn't finalize the decision until the last week anyway, and even then we waited til we met him to lock it in. But we didn't share our short list either.

We shared the names of both LOs. Some people didn't like the names, but we didn't care!

@ElbieKay: yes, this was exactly our reason for not telling with either of our kids.

We did. My mom didn't like it at all (she's named after a frog), but we told her that it was set in stone and she quit harping on. No one else said they didn't like it, and LO is definitely a Hyla. I can't imagine her with any other name.

I haven't wanted to share, no, but I did just learn this week DH has been talking with his coworkers a lot about our name choices. I think we've settled on a first name, and while it was my 1st choice name, I think DH was swayed by his family (& maybe coworkers) to choose that name because they all like it. I should just be happy it's the name I wanted, but I don't want to think all these people helped choose it. When I casually said once we choose her name I'd like to be able to announce it once she is born, DH looked guilty, like it's widespread news already. Guess I should've brought that up at the beginning.

We did not because we didn't want any opinions on the name. We announced after she was born and everyone was happy and excited. No one ever gave me a hard time for not announcing beforehand. Whenever I was asked, I was just vague and would say, "oh we haven't made up our mind!" And everyone was respectful and left it as that.

We told our parents and siblings. Other people will have to wait and be surprised.

Nope. I didn't want to hear anyone's opinion of it before she was born. I did share her middle name though (since it is my mom's name). That was enough to please everyone.

With LO1 because that whole plan got messed up anyway, but with LO2 we did not!

We haven't decided on a name yet, but we're not sharing LO's name until the birth. It seems like everyone in our life has a suggestion, which is tough enough to handle on it's own. I don't want to hear their opinions on our name. Like PP, I figure most will just say, "oh, that's nice" if told after the fact.

Incidentally, I asked DH if any of his co-workers were offering baby advice or name suggestions, and he said no. I'm not sure why my co-workers feel it's okay. I work in a male-dominant workplace, and it isn't the few women that keep offering advice. Very odd, and getting old fast.
