DS1 had a minor tear, he was 8lbs9oz, pushed for 3 freakin' hours
DS2 second degree tear, 9lbs4oz, only pushed 2x but it happened very fast and I remember my doctor telling me to slow down so I wouldn't tear but it was impossible to do at that point!

With my first, yes. I had over 30 stitches. I tore in a star shape. 3rd degree + tears AKA labia maul.

With my second, yes. But just minor tears. I think I had 3 or 4 stitches.

With my third, not at all.

With my first I only needed one stitch.

Just some abrasions with my second.

Very small tear for both of my boys. They were both only 5 lbs but I pushed rather quickly (15 mins or less with both).

DS1: episiotomy. I might have also torn, I am not sure.
    DS2: second degree tear.
The recovery was no big deal either time.

Yes, 3rd degree tear. Doctor was stitching me up for a long time. Recovery was rough and it ached for months.

Nothing that required stitches, fortunately, but 5-6 places that almost did and one spot on my labia that got scraped open like a skinned knee from LO's knuckles. I wonder if recovery would have been better or worse with one larger tear over lots of small ones.

Yes with L, but just 1-2 stitches. Didn't bother me at all other than itching. R wasn't a normal delivery but no tearing thankfully. Both were around 33 weeks so they were small. And they told me to slow down pushing with L so I might have avoided even that if I'd been able to.

2 stitches with DS (baby #1), no tearing with DD (baby #2).

No tearing with my first. Slight with my second. My second recovery was easier though, fwiw.

Pretty bad tears with my first and basically no tears with my second. It got one or two stitches but they were cosmetic.

    LO1 (8 lb 12 oz) - a 3rd degree tear that required stitches.
    LO2 (9 lb 6 oz) - an episiotomy and 2 additional tears

Yes, a very minor internal tear with DS1, I think it was just like 2 or 3 stitches. No with DS2, which surprised me because he came out so fast.

    Lo1 - csection
Lo2 - vbac with 3rd degree tear and episiotomy (baby was 9.5lbs). No more vbacs.

Yes, a second degree tear. I pushed for 4 hours and had a vacuum assist, so it could have been worse. I had complications at the stitch site that went on for months. Even now, the scar tissue means sex has to start off very slow and gentle!

I tore enough that I needed stitches but it wasn't very bad. I wasn't in too much pain down there after childbirth. Nothing that the meds they gave me couldn't take care of.

No tears for number one. Recovery was really quite easy, and I was grateful! We will see with number two. I'm using a different midwife this time (we moved), but preventing tearing is a big priority for me!

yep - 3rd degree.. My son's heart rate was dropping - I was told I had 5 mins to they to push him out - I got him out in 2, but tore badly as a result!

Yes, when it was time for stitches, I asked how many and the midwife responded by saying "think of it as one continuous stitch" ...

    1st: yes, required two stitches.
    2nd: no!

@SugarplumsMom: that's exactly what they told me! I was kind of frustrated no one would ever tell me how many stitches/how big it was.

Yes with both, much less with my second though.

Yes with DD1, not sure what degree tear, but it took her a little bit to stitch me up. Recovery took a little while, and I was using a ton of that Dermoplast spray to numb everything!

I chose no tear bc each time tore so slightly that no stitches were needed. The first birth I told the nurse I was scared of tearing and so she applied counter pressure with warm compresses and second time the birth was super fast but I took my time pushing her out.
