I've seen the recommendation to get a pack of Depends (adult diapers) for the first week or so post partum. I didn't last time and didn't really have any issues, but I also hated the mesh underwear. Did you wear Depends? Or just mesh underwear or accept that some of your regular underwear might get ruined?

I just used the disposable underwear from the hospital (ours seemed pretty cotton-y, I kind of loved it!). The depends would have been overkill for me.

i used the biggest pads i could find and wore cheap underwear that i didn't care if it got ruined.

Ha, yes I did. I actually love the mesh underwear too. I bought Depends because they just seemed easier than anything else. I will definitely do it this time again too.

@MrsF: @Canoli: I think my mesh underwear were just way too small. I'm not that big but these were like extra small. Nothing to make you feel awesome like tiny mesh undies squeezing your swollen post partum body and a giant pad stick out the top.

@Foodnerd81: That's funny, I hated the mesh undies because mine were way too big! They slid all over the place and didn't hold the gigantic pads in place very well. I always wondered if they came in different sizes... I think they must, and it's luck of the draw.

I loved the mesh undies. Mine were comfy. No need for depends.

@Foodnerd81: I think you must have gotten tiny ones if your pad could stick out of the top - mine stretched high enough to be able to tuck it into my bra in both the front and the back!

This is just too much for me. I did mesh undies or granny panties (thought I bought esp for the post partum time).

Nope. Used the mesh as the hospital. They sucked, but I figured I might as well use up their stuff while I was there and paying for it. Plus less to pack and later bring home. For home, the always infinity were just fine.

I used them post partum both times. I liked them. After LO1 I had some unexpected incontinence issues on Day 4. That caught me totally off guard so I was glad I was wearing them. I wore them too many days (5?) both time and my cheeks got a little irritated. No big deal but you do want to get some air in there occasionally.

I bought some (my mom uses them so I knew no matter what they wouldn't go to waste) but I found them too tight/constricting. I did use overnight Tena pads (used for incontinence not menstruation) for a few days. After I ran out of the giant hospital pads I used the Tena pads and they were more flexible than the smaller pads from the hospital.
But I did have two different nurses bring me two different kinds of mesh undies. One were kind of cut like men's boxer briefs and I preferred those.

I loved the mesh underwear! I just used extra absorbent, overnight pads and i was fine.

I like the mesh undies. I found out you could wash and dry them so I did that when I got home! Regular underwear fell right on top of my incision, was, and still is uncomfortable.

I had a friend ask me about this--she wanted to know if it was for catching pee or post partum blood and I said I honestly didn't know. I never used them, but I haven't had any incontinence issues....i just wore my own hip hugger briefs once I was home. Generally, as long as I either washed quickly or preloaded in cold water and used some spray n wash, there was no "ruining"
Also, the mesh undies....my hospital had the good kind for LO 1; but switched to an awful, cheap, tiny kind with a wider mesh weave that resembled fishnet stockings. Super uncomfortable for LO2.

No , I just wore mesh underwear for he first 3 days or so then switched to the always super overnight pads. I had way less bleeding the second time around.

I just ugly boy shorts from target and regular pads. None got ruined.

My hospital didn't offer mesh underwear. Instead, my nurse asked if I had brought underwear (as per the list the hospital provided). I'd bought cheap Walmart ones, but ended up wearing them for months.
ETA: I used the same pads as Charm54 after the hospital pads ran out. They were gigantic, so I didn't really have many leaks.

Nope! I just did the double huge pads with the giant granny panties from the hospital for like 1-2 weeks. I didn't bleed for thaaaat long and it was manageable when I got home.

I can confirm that the mesh undies come in different sizes. When I asked the nurse for more, she asked what color stripe mine had on them and explained the different sizes are different colors.
I wore the mesh underwear at the hospital and then my worst pairs of undies once I got home.

No, I just wore big pads and mesh underwear. I had C-sections so I don't' think my bleeding was as heavy.

I lost all bladder control after delivery and it took weeks to return to normal. I cried so much because I couldn't feel anything and no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't just "hold it in". So I wore depends. It was so, so embarrassing. But there was nothing I could do about it. -
No, I specifically stocked up on cheap crappy underwear I wouldn't mind ruining, and just wore those and maternity pads until the bleeding had tapered off enough I could get by with normal pads (around one week PP both times).

Yes after DS2 and I loved them. They were more for the bleeding as I felt that the pads sometimes slid around too much.

Nope. Would have been overkill for me. I just wore the mesh underwear and a pack of cheap cotton bikinis with giant pads.

Yes and they were amazing. I hate pads and despise those mesh panties so I had my mom go out and buy a pack of the discreet depends. Life saver!

It would cost more $$, but now there's that company called Thinx that makes the period panties. They are also now coming out with some pee panties, specifically for the pregnant/post partum crowd. I have a couple of pairs (even the new ones) because I have a friend that works for Thinx.
It's a pretty interesting concept.

I only got to take home like one pair of mesh underwear! So yeah I definitely needed the mom-diapers. They were super comfortable and easy so didn't really bug me at all. Definitely needed since it was like a murder scene for a while....

No and no mesh underwear either after the hospital. Regular panties and pads, and no underwear got ruined either.
