My mom helped with art projects, poster boards and that sort of thing when I was pretty young. Dad helped me out once or twice with math homework. In general I was extremely independent, though, and never really needed homework help.

My parents worked late hours and were never home until dinner time (my grandmother took care of us). We were all responsible for getting our own homework done and knew no other way. I see the homework that every preschoolers get these days and can't remember it ever being so involved.

Never. My dad was an immigrant who dropped out of school very early, and his English has never been great. My mom dealt with a lot of illness, so she wasn't really available.

I had a lot of trouble learning my times tables when I was in third grade, so my dad helped me with that. He never did the homework for me, but he did look at what was being asked and then devised a plan for me to learn it, with drills.

Everything else, I did myself.

They sometimes had more things to teach based on what we were learning. They were both teachers and I loved math and reading so it worked out. I remember crying about art projects though. I had no idea what to do or think everything looked really bad when I put it together. So one of them usually figured out how to cool my jets or help out with artsy stuff.

My mom always checked it to make sure I did it all right and if I made a mistake I had to fix it. I remember she had to help me with my mission project (CA thing) in 5th grade - that was a PITA! Once I got into middle school I think she stopped.

Very, very little. Education was not a focus for my family though. I plan to be pretty different in this area - not that I plan to do his homework, but education will be a priority in our house! It is actually one of the reasons I am considering being a SAHM or owrking PT once LO starts school.

I want to say they probably did when I was in elementary school but I don't remember. By middle school I surpassed any knowledge they might have of the subjects but they did encourage me not to procrastinate which I still did.

My DH on the other hand... my in-laws tells stories all the time how he would trick them into doing his homework for him. It took them a while to figure out he was bored and not challenged, finally they had him skip some grades to finally get him motivated and engaged.

Dad - yes. Mom - no.

My dad is absolutely brilliant. He even helped me on my homework in college!

Nope, they didn't know how to do it.

Nope, they wouldn't have had a clue.
