We are heading to Disney for a week in December and are struggling to decide whether to get tickets for the Very Merry Christmas Parade. My girls are turning 2 and 4 this month - though I am sure my oldest could handle a later night, I'm wondering if my 2 year old would have a total meltdown and it just wouldn't be worth it. We would only plan to stay at the party until 10 pm at the latest and are staying at the Bay Lake Towers, so will have a short walk to the hotel after we leave, if that changes anyone's opinion. Also, I doubt this will be a once in a life time trip, so my kids will certainly have other opportunities to see the parade when they are older. Love to hear thoughts from the more experienced folks!

I would do it but use it as a substitute day for the parks or first day at the parks. So much fun!! My six year old can only handle staying up until 9 and it would still be worth it for us! We have done the Halloween party and one day will do the Christmas party one time. If you plan on coming back again at Christmas, you could possibly wait. But I wouldn’t!

I hope it’s worth it!! I’ve never been before, but we are heading to Disney for a week in November and we got tickets! I’ll have an almost 2yo and an almost 5yo - i plan on watching the fireworks by the exit so we can be the first to leave right after! I also plan on getting them changed and dressed in their pajamas in case they fall asleep before the fireworks or on the way home (we’re at AKL). It’s going to be extremely late for my 2yo, but she handles long wake ups well and is easily distracted. We didn’t purchase park tickets for that day and will spend the morning relaxing at the hotel and taking naps. With party tickets, you can arrive at MK at 4pm and stay up until midnight.
ETA: we have another day planned at MK as well

Oof, I dunno. I haven't done the Christmas party but I've done the Halloween party (without kids) - similar in structure (i.e. special events, special parade, special fireworks). I wouldn't bring little kids. My 2yo would be a wreck but he doesn't do well staying up late. Plus the tickets are really expensive if you are leaving early and can't take full advantage of all the party has to offer. If you want to see the parade, fireworks, the special shows, get the free cookies and cocoa, etc. you really don't have time to do many rides so it's not exactly a replacement Magic Kingdon day.
I might wait if you think you will be back in a few years when they kids are older, but if not it sounds like you have a good plan.
