What the title says. By the time baby #2 gets here, my son will be 4. We rarely use a stroller with him now. Is it worth getting a double stroller?

We are only 4 months in with two but so far we haven't needed one.

I am almost four months into a 2.5 year age gap and just sold my double! Older bikes, other one in single or worn.

Nope. We had a two year age gap and used ours only a handful of times.

I wouldn't. We had 3y9m gap and have never wanted one. Especially if your son barely rides now!

I vote no. Our kiddos will be 3.5 years apart and we are not getting one. I wore Lo1 for about a year, which I figure I will do with #2 as well. So by the time I actually and to put #2 in the stroller Lo1 will be like 4.5-5 and that feels too old to worry about a stroller.

No. Even with a two year age gap I only ever used a board on the back of the stroller. If my son wanted to sit in the stroller, I wore the baby!

No. We had a 3 year gap AND we live in a city with no car, so the stroller is our car. We got a ride on board instead and it was perfect. We used it a ton for 1.5 years and were completely done with the board when my older LO was 5.

If you rarely use one as is, I'd say no. My DD was 3.3 when LO2 was born and still used the stroller every day, so I got one. As it is, I almost always wear LO2, so these days, we are basically still using our single. Still hoping to get use out of our double eventually but we could probably have gotten away without one.

Nope, I have a 2 1/2 year age gap and used our double like 2x) our oldest is over the stroller, we used it for a big zoo trip is all.

I vote no as well. We have a 3y3m gap. We did buy a new stroller because I wanted one and got an amazing deal. So we did have two strollers for a bit, but we gave the second one away within 6 months. My biggest concern was crowded/busy places. By 4 my older was certainly able to handle staying with us holding hands, holding onto the stroller or just staying right by our sides. At 3 she wasn't as capable of that level of obedience.

Probably not if you don't use one much. We walk a lot and my 4.5 year old still loves the stroller so I'm glad we have ours. Maybe a sit n stand might be nice to have for long days out at the zoo or wherever?

We have a 3 year gap and just bought a sit and stand. D (4yo) does fine for shorter days out, like shopping and stuff, but for long days walking around the zoo or the amusement park, he needs something to take a break or for the end of the day when his legs get tired.

No. We have a nearly 3 year age gap. By the time DS #2 arrived, DS #1 wasn't interested in the stroller at all. Getting a little brother really pushed his independence.

Thank you everyone! It sounds like maybe a ride on board might be the best option for the rare times we might need something for them both. Thank you for all the input!

How much do you use your stroller now? Do you have any big trips coming up that would require LO1 to do a ton of walking?
If you aren't using your stroller at least weekly now, I don't think you'll need a double.

I'll be the dissenting voice and say "maybe". We have a 2.9 year gap and right now they're 3.5 and 8 months. Every so often it's helpful to have a double stroller. Luckily we have a City Select so we can just pop seats on and off depending on what we need.
Sometimes if we're doing a lot of walking then it can be easier to put the older one in the stroller too and give him a snack to keep him occupied. The kids also sort of amuse each other. I also wore my first pretty regularly but my 2nd is not a huge fan. When she was tiny if I wore her she'd get mad if I didn't feed her. And now that she's older she wants to be able to move around more. There are also times when DS gets jealous and sees the baby in the stroller and wants to ride too.
So anyways, I wouldn't spend a lot on one and I probably wouldn't even get one before your 2nd is here. But you might end up wanting one.

We have a 3.5 year gap and we didn't need one. We even went on an overseas trip AND Disney World. LO1 doesn't need it most of the time but on long trips, she would sit in the stroller and I would babywear.
I also put one of those stroller handle? stroller walk along thing? on our stroller and LO1 likes to hold it and it still connects her to the stroller.

I also recommend a board. Our two are 3y3m apart. The baby is just about 6 months and got moved to the big stroller this week. We bought DD the Lascal buggy board for it and she loves it. She just started at a new preschool which is a 20 minute walk and there's no way she could make it without the ride on board.

I see a lot of moms who will wear the baby and push the older kid in the rare instances where they might feel like the stroller would be helpful (like getting out of the zoo after a long day of walking etc.) Getting a carrier you love may be a better investment.

Mine are exactly 3 years apart and yes, we have a double. It's a jogging stroller but I am a runner and I need to be able to take both girls with me sometimes. My oldest still prefers to ride in the stroller long distance (like at the zoo).

We have a 2 year gap and got the second seat for our vista (older version). It's been perfect for our needs as DD1 just hops on and off when she's tired. But truth be told we haven't ever NEEDED it and could have got by without it. I'm glad we didn't invest in a true double as DD1 prefers to walk 95% of the time.
The only time we have needed a true double has been Disney World and we just rent from a local company when we go.
