We started childbirth class last Saturday and the instructor is also a doula. She said of 150+ clients, more than 140 went into labor overnight/early morning. This gave my husband some peace of mind since it's hard to reach him during the work day.
I thought it was a little unbelievable, but my mom, an ob/gyn NP, said it happens that way more often than not.
Have you heard this? Was it true for you?

true for my son. Labor started around 4 am.
Not true for my daughter. Water broke around 3:30 pm.
Funny, my doula said she thinks women pregnant with boys start labor early morning, and women pregnant with girls start evening/late night.

I've heard that too. I knew I was in labor at starting at 2pm, painful contractions started at 10pm, and I delivered at 1am two days later.

Not for me, I went into labor around 7 pm... though the hospital sent us home and we weren't admitted till the next morning.

With my first, my water broke at 7:15pm. She was born at 10:10am. I woke at 3am with contractions the second go around, and she was born at 7:27am

My water didn't break but when I went to bed at 11pm I had a "feeling" and then at 1am, the contractions started...20 mins apart and by 3am was 5 mins apart.

LO1 - water broke around 9pm

My water broke around 9:45pm, so I guess true for me.
I wonder though if it's just because there's more hours that most people would consider "night or early morning"?
I wonder if it's just something with the stats though... Like, if someone said evening or early morning I'd think anytime between like 5pm and 9am which is 2/3 of the day right there. Or that more people start labour during the day, but decide to head into the hospital before the maternity ward reception leaves and you have to go in through emergency (9pm at my hospital).

Contractions started late afternoon but really picked up by 8 pm. Had her at 8 am the next day!

True for one! First baby, I knew I was in labor around noon, but second baby was in the evening around 7:00 p.m.

I woke from contractions at 4am - so true for me.
We'll see whether it's still true after #2 arrives next month.

I had both! With my first labor started around 1:00 PM, and my second I woke up with contractions around 2:30 AM.

My water broke in bed at night at 42 weeks, but I ended up having to be induced.

With D it was at night. With S it started in the morning. M was a planned C, so never labored.

Yes and no. With DD1, I woke up with contractions around 1 am. With DD2, my water broke around 4 pm.

Contractions started at 4:30pm after I purposely walked around at the zoo for like 6 hours.. I was a week late. He wasn't born until 9:30pm 2 days later though.. so he was BORN at night but labour started in the "evening" lol..
I have heard this same stat actually and I always pictured myself labouring at night.
