If there is something especially fatty in there then I do. The fat makes huge splatters and tends to explode

If it's something messy like pasta or soup I do. Otherwise no.

I do every single time.. I have a cover that makes it super easy.

It depends on what it is, usually not though and it makes a big mess most of the time.

Not usually. I'm actually guilty of putting something on top of the cover in my mothers microwave #incrediblylazy

I always cover food because I hate to clean the microwave. So I just make sure it doesn't get dirty, and ever since DH moved in, he does the same. I used his parents' microwave the other day and wanted to barf...there is so much splattery crap everywhere in it! DH said it never occurred to him to cover food when microwaving until he saw me do it.

Yep, we have a plastic dome cover thing with holes on it. Never with plastic wrap though.

Yes, otherwise DH (the neat freak) accuses me of dirtying the microwave! I won't use plastic in the microwave, so I just cover whatever I'm heating with an upside down salad plate.

Yes, every time! I hate the splatters, but also I feel like it keeps food from becoming dry as it heats, since it keeps steam in. I could be making that up, but it makes sense to me, haha.
