Do you drink diet pop? If so, how much?
If you used to and quit, how did you finally stop?
I think I have a Diet Coke problem and I've tried quitting in the past but it always creeps back into my life

Occasionally if I am getting a burger at a place that does not have beer like Five Guys. So 1x a week? I keep emergency 8oz canned coke in my fridge about 4/8 are left it's been there 6months- they help headaches.
I really dig bubble water- I love my soda stream. I crave the carbonation. La Croix has lots of great flavors. I like peach pear the best.

I usually have a few of the mini cans of Diet Coke in my fridge but a 6 pack will last me 6 months so no, I guess not. If I'm going to drink pop I'm usually going to drink gingerale.

I drank a LOT of pop in college, probably 5 cans a day. And then I had 8 cavities at my first dentist appt. after I graduated.
Now I limit myself to just 1 a day at lunch. I'll have Cappuccino in the morning instead, and water throughout the day. Just find something else you like to drink and keep it available.
ETA: I had been drinking Diet Dew, but switched back to regular because of the Aspartame.

Yes I have a can of Diet Coke most days at work w/lunch, usually none on weekends. I should probably cut back, but I look forward to my cold canned Diet Coke sooo much!
I also drink a lot more sparkling water, which has reduced the amount of diet soda I used to drink.

I used to have a problem with it. I drank one with lunch and one with dinner, almost every day. At some point, I really re-vamped my diet and I made a huge effort to cut back. We stopped buying packs of cans and that make a big difference since it just wasn't in the house. Now I have maybe one diet soda each weekend and that's generally it.

Nope, I don't drink soda at all. If I do have a soda, I just get a regular one, not diet. But that's maybe once a month, if that.

I keep a few cans of coke zero around for headaches, the caffeine is usually finally kills it off for me. Other than that I drink a diet coke when we go out to dinner and there isn't beer (or now that I'm pregnant) but not every time. It probably averages around 1-2x a week.

Same as @MrsADS it's my lunch treat at work. I've quit it in the past in favor of unsweetened iced tea & flavored seltzer, but like you said, it always creeps back in.

Occasionally. I don't generally buy it but if it is there, I like a Coke Zero (but I prefer decaf). Once in a blue moon I will buy a case. Mostly I drink sparkling water. My mother drank diet coke constantly and finally quit cold turkey last year. She said it was as hard as quitting smoking (which she did 40 years ago).

Never. I hate all diet sodas. If I do have the occasional soda, it's a regular.
squash / 13208 posts
I reduced it by realizing it wasn't so much soda but the carbonation that I craved - I love drinking plain fizzy water (soda stream)

I'll admit it. I drink more pop than I think I should. Probably 5-6 days a week I'll have at least something. I drink regular, diet, and caffeine free, depending on my mood. Lately, A&W root beer has been amazing. I'm trying to withhold on all pop today, but I have to make a conscious effort or it creeps in on me!

I love me some Dr Pepper 10 (10 calorie Dr Pepper). My husband isn't a fan of me drinking diet soda while pregnant so it's been awhile since I had one. But usually I'd drink a can 2-3x per week. Honestly I find it a lot harder to justify the cost than anything else. Not that it's expensive, it's just 100% unnecessary and I don't want DD to see me drinking soda all the time!
Most people I know who quit soda moved to sparkling water with a squirt of lemon or lime. Or some people make those fruit-infused waters and then make them sparkling with soda stream.

@mrskansas: No I avoid artificial sweeteners and also try to avoid soda as much as possible.

I drink soda maybe once every 5 years. I do drink a lot of sparkling water though.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Nope. I don't really drink soda as is, but if I do, I drink regular. I don't like diet!

Once in a while, I'll have a Diet Coke. Sometimes I go months without one. I love sparkling water - it satisfies my desire for carbonation.
pomegranate / 3272 posts
I love Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi. I would limit myself to one a day but I still probably drank to much. I also liked using it as a mixer with vodka so yeah. When I got pregnant with DS2, it started to taste so sweet to me that I couldn't drink as much. I used to love the Dt Coke from McDonald's (only a $1!) but started drinking more ice tea instead. I also crave the carbonation so have moved to LaCroix and my soda stream with a little grapefruit juice. But sometimes, I still need my diet coke fix.

I used to love Diet Coke...doing a Whole30 is what got me off of it. I did it in September 2012 and I don't think I've had one since. I'll have a root beer maybe once every 3 months, and 7up if I'm sick, but other than that I'm pretty soda free. Like others have said, I like the carbonation so I drink a lot of La Croix.

I’m an off and on diet coke addict. I go through phases where I quit but I never seem to stay away for more than a year. When I’m at my worst I have about 4-5 a day (usually during busy season at work). I know they’re terrible for you and I feel much better overall when I’m not drinking them.
I’m currently not drinking them… the only thing I’ve had success with is replacing diet coke with something else. For me, I drink green tea pretty much all day at work.

Not diet, but I'll indulge in a Coke every now and then (maybe twice a month). I was realllyyyyy into them a few years ago, but replaced them with a fancy cocktail each night (probably not good advice, ha). Eventually, I got pregnant, switched to bubble water, then regular water. I'd say just stop buying it, but it's hard!!

I went from regular to diet and then stopped a long time ago. I think having an iced cold alternative is the key - whether it's sparkling water or iced tea or regular water. I also like iced coffee - only drink it in the summer though and definitely not as much as I drank soda.
I only drink soda now when I have a really bad headache or am nauseous.

I LOVE Diet Dr. Pepper, I drink 1-2 to a day....I'm trying to cut back to one and hopefully do an occasional pop instead. But I'm not going to lie I LOVE it and have a hard time giving it up. I switched to caffeine free during pregnancy becuase i need the taste...

yes, haha i have a problem too. both with diet coke and coke zero! at my worst i was drinking on average 3-4 cans a day after that article about increased risk of stroke/dementia that came out last week (http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/20/health/diet-sodas-stroke-dementia-study/), i cut it back to 1 a day. so far so good (after a week... ) but i'm trying! my motivation is just to be healthy for my kids! my 4yo was also lecturing me to drink more water
coconut / 8472 posts
Yup, I drink 2-3 cans of diet coke a day. I'm totally addicted to it.
honeydew / 7504 posts
No. Never. I can't stand that fake sugar taste, and it's pretty terrible for you. On the rare occasion that I do drink soda, I drink regular.
grapefruit / 4361 posts
When I'm not pregnant or nursing a newborn, I drink usually 1 can of Diet pepsi or coke a day. I have never drank alcohol or smoked anything so hopefully it all averages out.
Has anyone tried the Pepsi 1893? Um, DELICIOUS.

I actually don't remember the last time I had soda. I used to drink diet coke or sprite, not frequently though. I stopped drinking soda years ago now and switched to iced tea or lemonade if I want something besides water.
It wasn't too hard to stop drinking it since I never drank much to begin with.
persimmon / 1445 posts
I used to love it- Diet Dr Pepper was my favorite. I quit when I got pregnant with dd1 and haven't had it regularly since. It makes my head and stomach hurt, plus the taste has never seemed right- maybe my taste buds changed? I tend to get unsweet tea or coffee instead. If I'm craving something bubbly I get kombucha
kiwi / 526 posts
I don't drink diet, but do like the taste of an ice cold coke. It breaks me out though into cysts, so I have to avoid! I just tempted fate recently with a pop and now my chin hurts.
persimmon / 1130 posts
I used to have one a day, sometimes two. When I was pregnant with DD I gave it up and never really went back to it. I'll have a can occasionally, especially if I have a headache and want the caffeine, but not very often.
coconut / 8483 posts
I hate diet.
I have coke if we go out sometimes (usually dh and I share one) and with some meals we will buy a can each (tacos for example, haha). Maybe a few cokes a month. I used to have 1-2 a day in high school. If it's in the house I'll drink one a day until it's gone, so I don't buy it.
clementine / 874 posts
Nope! I don't drink soda though and will have a sip of my husband's drink once in a while. I would much prefer coffee, iced tea, or water.

My Cherry Coke craving from my pregnancy 2 years is still going strong. I prefer fountain drinks over canned. So Wendy's was/is my go to place to quench my thirst.
I drink it everyday at work (5 times a week). I know people who drink soda at every meal and everyday. I think I'm okay because of that. Haha.

No. Dont drink any soda, not since college. Addicted to flavored seltzers!

I used to. I would drink 1 or 2 Diet Cokes a week. Usually one at home with lemon, as a treat or on a sunny day, and maybe one if we happened to go out to eat that week.
But on February 1 I changed my eating habits and I haven't had a Diet Coke since then.
