Was just reading this beautiful remembrance of the apartments where the author grew up:
My parents just sold our childhood home last year! I hadn't visited the area in years, and now I regret not walking through one last time. Although after reading that article, maybe it was for the best.

Yes! Drove by it this summer, it was so crazy how small it is lol, it seemed like a mansion when I was growing up

@Applesandbananas: That's how I felt.
I have passed by it a few years ago. We lived in that house for 6 years, but my parents currently live in the home that I spent ages 10-college in. I do not know how I would feel once they move. They have talked about it for a while now.

I moved every two years growing up (air force kid). If I'm ever in a city where I lived, I try to go see the house we lived in! I find it so interesting to see the houses from when I was younger; I'm someone who has very vivid memories of physical places...where stairs were, what tree was outside, the neighbor's porch. Its fun to compare my memory to reality.

Yes and I can't believe what a dump the neighborhood has turned into. It was never fancy but it's terrible now. We moved when I was a teen and my parents still live there. It will be weird when they move. I recently visited the house my grandparents lived in for over 50 years. It was really weird to see it and not walk inside. The owner noticed me scoping it out and offered to take me inside which was very nice but I declined.

My sister and her best friend live there (my parents still own it), so yes. We moved when I was 16 and my parents still live in that house.

Yes, my parents still live in it. I visit a few times a year. I would be sad if they sold it, but they have been talking about downsizing.

I've gone back a few times when I still had old friends in the neighborhood. Now when I feel nostalgic I Google Map it.

My parents sold it about 10 years ago (I lived there ages 3-21), but last year they bought the house in the back! It's a new young family living there, and it makes all of us happy to see a new family enjoying it and listen to them playing in the backyard.

Yes. Tonight in fact. And most days. My parents still live there and my mom does part time childcare. We will inherit it as well (my brothers don't want to live here) and we are likely to move into it at that point.

We moved way too much to say one home was my childhood home. I do drive by the house my Grandparents owned for most of my childhood when I'm in my home state. My Grandma sold it years ago though so it's been awhile since I was in it.

Yes. My parents still live there. That home is really really special to our family (my parents built it and my sister and I came home from the hospital to that house after we were born). I hope they still have it for years to come-it really means a lot to me to see my son make memories in that house.

My mum sold my childhood home last year. I helped her empty and clean the place and then she asked me to shut the door behind us the final time. It was really, really emotional for me.

My parents sold the house I grew up in when my dad got ill when I was in college. They downsized to a smaller house right next to my mom's job, so she could easily go back and forth to check on my dad. Then she sold the small house when he passed, and she moved cross country.
I've never even been back to the town where I grew up. It's so far away and hard to get there. I have no reason to go back to that area at all, but maybe one day.

My parents recently sold it, and I drive by occasionally on my way home. It's on a busy street, and my parents had a restaurant on the first floor while we lived on the second floor. I don't have fond memories of it. The house will soon be torn down and apartments/store front will replace it.

Yes, my brother's family bought my parents' house and live there! They've made changes though which look great, but different (like, redid the kitchen, painted the outside, tore down a couple walls to make bigger rooms...)

I used to when we went back to Asia, since my grandparents lived a few buildings down. But after my grandpa passed and my grandma moved, I haven't been back up there.
In the US? I haven't really been back to visit the two houses I grew up in.

Yep, my parents still live there. Although they tend to come to us usually, so we only go there once a year these days.

I drive by it often (my Grandpa lives in the same neighborhood). But I wish I could walk through it again! I'm sure it's renovated and entirely different.
