I have never had a toaster oven in my life, but hear that lots of people have them. Is it just an easier way of cooking a smaller portion of something? What makes it different/better than a regular over? Do I need one of these?!

My old roommate had one, and although I liked it for certain things, the space it took up wasn't worth it to me! I like clean counters so adding one more appliance would bother me.

I've had one my whole life! I like to use it to heat things up that I don't feel like turning on the over for - like a slice of pizza, small items from the freezer, leftovers that I don't want to microwave, etc. So it's very convenient. Of course we also use it for toast. But I've never cooked something from scratch in it.

i got rid of mine when i moved to a smaller place & didn't have space for it. it heats up faster & uses less energy than a full oven.

We have one. I hate it. It's my husband's from since before we got together. We've been having an ongoing toaster debate. I just want a regular toaster. The toaster oven is good for heating up tortillas or crisping a sandwich, that's about it.

We got rid of ours. I grew up with a toaster oven and no regular slice toaster, so I got both when I got married. We never used the toaster oven! Definitely useful for small things when we didn't want to use the oven (takes so long to heat up) but the counter space is more important to me. We just use the microwave or heat things in a pan on the stove.

I love it. I use it more than the oven. I like to reheat leftovers like baked chicken and pizza in it and breakfast foods too.

We have it and use it daily to reheat things. I also bake those pillsbury rolls in them in like 5 minutes. It's great!

I've had one all my life. It's great now for heating up DD's frozen chicken nuggets and fish sticks.

I love it for cooking small portions. Since it's just the two of us, I use it a lot more than the full size oven. I feel like it's more energy efficient since it's so much smaller. I also use it to store my cutting boards on top of it haha

Yes! I'm obsessed with our toaster/convection oven! I use it every day. It doesn't need to preheat, doesn't heat the whole house, and is so much easier to clean. I only use the regular oven for big dinners and cakes/cookies. Everything else goes into the toaster oven.

I prefer it to a pop up toaster because it's easier to toast thicker things (like thick english muffins and bagels) without burning them.
And I like using it (especially when it's hot in the summer) for making dinner when I'm cooking just for me. It preheats a million times faster than a regular oven since it's smaller.

I'm meh about ours. It is nice for heating up leftovers, yes, as we don't have a microwave but it takes up SO much counter space -- the thing is a beast! We're trying to sell our house right now and so we decluttered everything and put the toaster oven away and I have to say I haven't missed that thing one bit.

LOVE ours. We use it every day. We use it as a toaster, but also to reheat food. It's great! Plus I like that I can toast more things in it than our regular toaster.

@Adira: Yes, love it for reheating! We have a microwave, but the microwave makes things soft and rubbery. Love that the toaster oven keeps things crispy like the oven.

I love my toaster oven. I have a small casserole dish that just fits inside so I've baked things like lasagna from scratch. I appreciate not using the oven and heating the whole house in the summer.

Always had one. Use it as a toaster and to heat up smaller items without having to preheat the oven!

I love mine for all of the reasons mentioned above! I'm lucky that both my condo and my now house have the perfect spot for it.

I didn't grow up with one, but was converted in college when I saw how versatile they were! We don't have or use a regular pop-up toaster anymore because the toaster oven can do that PLUS so many other cooking/reheating tasks. It's also so much better than the microwave for heating stuff like leftover pizza - leaves the crust nice and crispy! (Hello, yes, it is totally lunch time over here.)

I never had one growing up but when I went to college I got one as a gift from relatives and I used it all the time. Even now when I'm married... we use it pretty much every other day or so. It's great for just warming up things or toasting/baking smaller portions.

I have one and I LOVE it. I use it all the time. It's great for toasting and for making smaller portions of food. I barely ever use my microwave, but I used the toaster oven constantly.

We have one & love it. We toast with it, reheat stuff & use it to cook most stuff with. Our oven takes so long to heat up, we don't use it unless we have to.

I used mine twice already today.! I especially like it to heat up smaller things, like lunch when I'm heating leftovers just for me.
But I also very rarely use my microwave to heat up anything.
