Do you know any kids (or adults) in real life with the name "Olive"? We really love the name, but I've heard a few people say it's pretty popular. Oddly, I don't know anyone in real life with the name ... you?

I considered Olive and Olivia when I was pregnant in the early stages! I don't know any Olives but I know a bunch of Olivias.

I don't know anyone named Olive but like everyone else said, I know quite a few Olivia's. Drew Barrymore has a daughter named Olive but I don't know her!

Don't know any. It's not in the top 1,000 names used last year. Or any year for that matter!

I know one, but know far more Olivias. I will say I kind of lump it in my mind with Olivia.
@Mrs. Champagne: I'm not sure what you were looking at, but Olive is definitely in the top 1,000?

@Mrs. Champagne: @LBee: That's one place I looked and was surprised it was so popular. Though, I probably don't even know 1,000 baby names, so it's not a huge deal.

I don't know anyone named Olive, but it's an adorable name. I love old lady type names for girls -- Hazel, Esther, Violet, Lola, etc.

It's not so much that it's super popular- more that it's very much of a specific time. It depends on whether that bothers you or not.

Two family friends named Olive, and one named Olivera, though they are all over 60. I also know an Olivia, who is 3.

@LBee: weird!!!! I was sure it would be top 1,000 then I searched and it didn't come up. Maybe I had a typo

I know three between the ages of 2 and 5 - about the same # as the # of Olivias I know.

I wanna say I recently met one but I can't think of any. I think of Olive as the hipster equivalent of Olivia though, and I lump them together.

I know several Olivia's but no olives. However I feel like with similar names like that people will often call her the more popular one. Though in this case they do sound pretty different.

@meredithNYC: Our 1st LO has a "vintage" name, so I kind of dig the style of name.
@Foodnerd81: Interesting ... I would have never thought that. I think the difference is large enough that unless someone was being quick or lazy, it wouldn't happen too often.
@2littlepumpkins: Funny ... Olivia isn't even on our radar, but Olive is in the top 3. I think they are so different in style and feel.
@youboots: Martinis are my favorite!

@littlejoy: I guess I'm thinking more like Christie / Christine or something. And more so if they glance at the name than if they hear it. But you will get that with literally any name so it's unavoidable!
I really like both names!

@Foodnerd81: I have a very unusual name (with an even weirder spelling), and people call me the wrong name (consistently the same wrong name - both are names of birds). You're totally right ... unavoidable with nearly every name,

I don't know any in real life, but I have heard the name a lot online or even in movies.

There are three at DD1's school. We live in a hip neighborhood so lots of "cool" names.

@oliviaoblivia: We live in Portland, Oregon (Hipster Baby, USA), and I can't believe I haven't heard it here!! My LO's preschool teacher has a dog named Olive, but that's it.

@littlejoy: I think Olive and Olivia are sooooo different. With the names I've heard around here nothing is that unusual. I think it is really great with A's name. What are your boy names?

@youboots: We aren't set on any other names ... we actually haven't even talked about it other than "Olive". We liked "Birdie" (for a girl) A LOT, but that won't quite work with my name.
I think Olive and Olivia are totally different too.
