If you were due near the beginning/end of the month, were you hoping that it would go one way or the other? If there are multiple stones listed for LO's month of birth, which one do you go with?

My LO was due the first week of October and I was hoping she'd come at the end of September because sapphires are my favorite gemstone. She wasn't born until after her due date.
For October the birthstones are opal and pink tourmaline. I think both are pretty. DH bought me a ring with pink tourmaline so that's what I wear.
I was born in November and don't care for topaz. I've never worn jewelry with my birthstone much.

My boys are May and September, so emerald and sapphire. I like both. I'm October and I go with opal. I like it better than the pink stone.

She was due in June, but born in May. We share Emerald as our birthstone. LO2 is due in March, which is aquamarine. If he comes late it could be the diamond.

DD is April, and this current bun is due in April as well. So both are diamonds, which I like, but I kind of wish they had pretty colored birthstones for the sake of my mothers ring

Lo3 was due in January (garnet) but born in November (citrine). Never really been a fan, unfortunately

My daughters birthstone is sapphire and my sons is diamond. I really lucked out!

@Mrs. Pickle: ok so now I don't feel as bad for saying it but I do not care that much for topaz. Both my girls are November babies and I just don't really like the look of any topaz jewelry
@yellowbird: my DH is sapphire and his sister is diamond - I think that's the prettiest combo

My older daughter is July, so ruby- which I like very much but it's $$$$. She was due at the very end of the month so I though she would be August (peridot) which I also like and is cheaper.
This one is due mid December, blue topaz, which I really like and is more reasonable. The only thing is I don't think ruby and blue topaz look particularly good together.
Dh and I are both January/ garnet, which definitely doesn't look good with ruby.

I went into labor on November 30th and was pleased she wasn't born until December 1st because I preferred blue topaz to yellow. Karma got me because my second was born smack in the middle of November. The yellow has really grown on me though, and while I love some of the other stones, I like that theirs are so affordable.

DS was due in early March so his birthstone would have been aquamarine. We jumped the gun and got MIL an aquamarine little jewel for her Origami Owl necklace. He ended up being born Feb 27 We just say it's blue for boy! So his birthstone is actually Amethyst, which I like, but I haven't gotten anything with it yet.

I think it is an alexandrite. I love it. Natural is really pricey, so most are lab grown.

LO was born in August so hers is peridot. It's ok; I don't love it but don't dislike it either.

My kiddo was born in august, so peridot. I'm not such a fan, I don't like green. I have a May birthday, so emerald. Too much green. I love sapphires, so I was hoping for a September baby. Oh well. I don't wear much jewelry, and I'll keep wearing the colors I like when I do wear it.

DD was born in May so Emerald (which are quite pretty). I wouldn't have minded Pearl for June either (her original due date).

DW's is alexandrite which I am obsessed with since seeing it recently. DS was born last week so citrine/topaz which ive always thought was just ok. But my mom actually had citrine stud earrings made and she surprised me with them in the hospital! Even though they don't "go" with much I haven't taken them out since. I love them!

DD is December, so blue topaz which I love, and LO2 is due in May, so emerald, which I also love. DH had a blue topaz ring made for me when DD was born - I'd love an emerald something!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
DS' is sapphire which is what my engagement ring is made of so I really love it. LO2 looks like a May emerald and mine is an April diamond so I'm pretty happy with that color combination!

Aquamarine; I like that it's a bit more unique and colorful than some months.

My DS is emerald and my DD is peridot. I don't love them together. My husband and I are both April, so even though I don't love it, I think the white and greens together are nice

DS was supposed to be born in August, but came in Sept so his birthstone is sapphire, which I love! (Unlike the peridot - I'm just not a fan of green...)

E's is ruby, which I like but it doesn't really suit me. New baby is due in April and I love diamonds!!

Unless I go into labor in the next few hours, LO's birthstone will be tanzanite/zircon/blue topaz, which I don't care for. I don't mind turquoise, so if I ever get a piece of birthstone jewelry, it will probably be that.
My birthstone is diamond, which is inoffensive but boring, and DH is aquamarine, which I also don't love and which doesn't work with the December stones.
For birthstone purposes, I would have liked an August (peridot) or November (citrine/topaz) baby.

My kids' stones are aquamarine and tanzanite.
I think both are pretty and look good together, but I'm not big on wearing birthstone jewelry.

She's a little April diamond. I love diamonds. Plus that means the emerald-and-diamond right-hand halo ring I've worn every day for six years is a combo of my birthstone and hers. (Plus my diamond necklace push present is also her birthstone).

Amethyst for my older two, which I LOVE! Aquamarine for the baby, which is also very pretty
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
My son is amethyst. Not a fan really!
I was huge into my birth stone growing up, and even now. Mine is sapphire, I especially love black sapphires

My baby is due in April- diamond .
If he/she comes late 6+ days late- emerald .
If he/she comes 25+ days early- aquamarine .

@lady baltimore: I didn't realize tanzanite was also a December birthstone. I really like that one. But I like most of the blue stones. Plus I won't be 38 weeks until dec 3 so I am hoping for a December baby anyway.
persimmon / 1196 posts
@Foodnerd81: I am hoping for a December baby for every other reason!

@lady baltimore: you mean a birthstone ISN'T your deciding factor??
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@lady baltimore: London blue topaz is a much prettier color than regular blue topaz and matches with aquamarine - they sell jewelry with both stones on Blue Nile quite often! My SIL is a December baby and I've purchased a lot of London Blue and it's a very pretty color.

I was due May 4 and was glad she was born in May so her birthstone was Emerald. Diamonds are gorgeous of course, but $$$$$
persimmon / 1458 posts
My oldest is pink tourmaline which is okay. My second is April which is diamonds! Yes love! #3 is also due in April! I am trying to convince my husband that I need 3 stackable eternity bands in the kids birthstones as my mother's ring! He is slowly coming around
apricot / 274 posts
My son was due in Oct which is opal that I LOVE. Surprise, he was born in July, so it's Ruby. I have a right hand ring that has rubies and diamonds that I wear everyday. It's really grown on me. I was born in November which is citrine. I really like it! It's much prettier than topaz which is the other option.
