Do you care if your massage therapist is male or female? Would you absolutely not go to one or the other?

I don't' care, DH would prefer a female, his first one (couple's massage) he had a man and he was a little uncomfortable!

No real preference but slight preference towards men bc they tend to have larger hands that can apply pressure more evenly

I put prefer female, but I do agree with @sandy that men tend to have larger hands and it can be nice. But it makes me uncomfortable. DH will cancel an appointment if no female is available. He had a male once and was very uncomfortable. Which I find interesting because he is normally not type to care about that sort of thing. He told his gay coworker the other day that if he (DH) were gay, he would want to date him, went to Brokeback Mountain with a huge group of gay couples, etc. it normally doesn't phase him at all.

I prefer female. I've had both, and it's totally not a fair generalization but the 2 worst massages I've ever had were by men (2 different therapists at 2 different spas). They were terrible!

I've only ever really had one guy and he is super awesome, but generally I wouldn't care.

I find that women can sometimes be a little sharp with their hands. My favorite masseuse is a guy and I feel like the massage is smoother and less painful... But maybe that's just my experience.

I prefer female but that's probably just because mine is a woman.

I wouldn't go to a guy. A massage is a huge splurge for me and if I'm doing it I want to be totally relaxed. Professional or not, I'm not going to be relaxed laying there naked with some strange dude touching me.

depends on whether or not it comes with a happy ending?
for my prenatal massages I wasn't wearing anything other than underwear, so I would definitely prefer a female.

I don't have a preference. A trained monkey could be giving me a massage and I'd still just be happy to be getting a massage.

If I'm going somewhere new, I prefer a female. Oddly enough though, the place I usually go to (a monthly fee place similar to massage envy) I alternate between two different men.

No preference. I just want someone that does lots of hand tricks and stays quiet.

I thought I'd be fine with a man but I actually found it really uncomfortable, I would only go to a woman in future.

Typically I prefer a woman but I won't turn down a massage if only men are available. Although, I did have a really cute guy once and I felt a little awkward for a good portion of it...

I used to say that I preferred female, and would be very resistant to even having a male masseuse. But then I was 'forced' to have a male one time, and it was AMAZING. So, now I will request a male masseuse (if I ever actually get a massage again... my previous company paid for spa days once a year )

I don't have a preference, but for DH, it absolutely has to be a female.

I don't care as long as the pressure is firm enough. No pansy massage. My favorite person is a woman, though, and now I try to see her exclusively. And I don't want to chit chat

I don't really care. As long as they have strong hands and apply a lot of pressure, I'm good with either.

I said prefer female, but I've been to many good male massage therapists. For some reason now that I'm pregnant I think I'll prefer female therapists until I'm back to "just me".

Male...i tend to like really firm, deep pressure and men seem to be able to do that more easily. They also have bigger hands so the pressure is applied more evenly and i find that men tend to have warmer hands.

Female.
I'd feel uncomfortable having a strange man touch my bod!

I've only had free back massages so I don't really care.
If it was a spa treatment, I would prefer a woman.

Male! They tend to use more pressure (which I like) and chat less! DH has never gotten adds age but he said he wouldn't have a preference.

I've only had one massage by a man and I wasn't impressed. I also felt kinda icky with another man touching me but it wasn't inappropriate just strange for me. I went to the same place for a prenatal massage with a female and that wasn't any good either, unfortunately! It's one of the most popular upscale spas around here so I've gotten gift cards but otherwise it wouldn't be my first choice!
