No, we are so bad about doing her hair or even brushing it. And then she gets knots in it so our solution is to put it up in a pony so you can't really see them. We did cut her bangs around age 2 for the same reason that we didn't do her hair and it just was in her face constantly. My DH has finally agreed to a regular haircut (don't get me started...) so I'm excited to have shorter hair that hopefully won't get tangled very easily!

I'm with you that I wouldn't feel super comfortable blowdrying my LO's hair regularly, it just seems early to start a habit like that.

@hilsy85: @nana87: mine looks like a combo of these. It’s a hot mess. She probably needs a hair cut soon. She’s nearly 2.5 and hasn’t had one yet.

My mum suggests argan oil to tame hair a bit after shampooing. Put it in wet and comb and it actually does make a difference to what it looks like when it’s dry. I don’t own a hair dryer and I do feel they are damaging for hair so I probably wouldn’t bother with one for a little kid since I don’t bother with one for myself. I also shower before bed and am totally fine with going to bed with wet hair and it hasn’t caused issues yet for my daughter either.

My 2.5 year old has really curly hair. Most days, I spray it with a detangling spray, comb it straight, then scrunch it back into curls. That's how she goes to daycare. On the weekends, I put bows or barettes in it, since I don't have to worry as much about her losing them at daycare. For gymnastics class, I do pigtails.

Yes, product every day in DS1s hair. It grows straight forward so without something in it looks like Lloyd Christmas.

My DD1 has long, thick, dense wavy hair with lots of flyaway curly bits at the front hairline. I wash it once a week, and I always dry it with the hairdryer. I apply a creamy coconut leave in conditioner, and I will dry it with the diffuser so that she doesn't feel her hair is being blasted. Then I will braid it at night before bed. For school days I rub a small amount of the same leave in conditioner onto her hair, and then pony tail at the back and plait the pony tail to keep it neat. I do have to put some clips in the front to tame the flyaways. By the end of the day- its a mess.

@nana87: Daycare has mentioned that his hair is always in his eyes so until his first REAL haircut next week I have been putting it up! Haha. All the other babies say PONY!!!! Lol.

@wrkbrk: super cute! My ds’s hair is shorter so I’m not sure how much difference that would make but my favorite thing to use on him right now StyleSexyHair (the big sexy hair brand) Slept In Texture Cream. It has a lot of hold which we need.

@wrkbrk: I hope it works!! If you don’t like that one we’ve also used a Crew brand pomade in a little round jar, I can’t remember the exact name but it was pretty good.

This is a constant struggle for us. DD2 will rip a whale spout out if I’m in sight for some reason. She’ll leave one in if they do it at school or if my mom does it though. Her hair is super straight down and constantly irritating her eyes so she’ll probably learn eventually. DD1s hair only stays in if the preschool aides do fancy do’s, or when she’s with my mom. I swear they can work magic. They do super tight and intricate braids that we’ll leave in the next day! I’m not so skilled and usually just do half up/half down on her, sometimes in braid format. Pony tails don’t work because she is too wild and they come out. My MIL watches them pretty frequently and never bothers with their hair. She had 4 kids so she’s kind of my barometer she I figure if she doesn’t care, it’s NBD.

My kids constantly have butter, peanut butter, yogurt, juice from fruit etc. in their hair. I’m not giving them a bath after every meal and it’s not preventable during meals. It’s a battle I’m not willing to fight, so I just try to make them look presentable (even if that means a messy bun that hides the jelly).
