LO2 is due in December, and LO1 just turned 2. We weren't planning on getting a double stroller because I wasn't sure how long we'd be using it, but someone I know is selling their Uppababy double stroller, so I'm thinking about it. Do you think a double stroller would be needed for for an infant and 2 year old?

Totally. We used it every day in the beginning, and our older son was 2.5 when ds2 was born. We still use it, though not as often, and ds1 is almost 4.

Yes- although I'd recommend a sit and stand variety, maybe. We have one for our 3.5 year old and 10 month old and use it all the time. If we go to the zoo or mall or a festival... anything with lots of walking and our big boy still gets tired and wants to ride.

I would get one. DS was 26 months when DD was born and at age 4 he still likes to sit in it!

I would get one, but not an Uppababy. We sold ours when DD1 was 26 months old because the rumble seat doesn't work well.

Yes if you use a stroller a lot already (like live in a city where you walk a lot).
If you only use it for things like the mall or airport then maybe not (my sister is in the burbs and that's the only reason she used a stroller). -
I got a baby trend hand me down (but it's practically brand new), but otherwise I wouldn't have gotten one. I figured I'd just wear DD2 if anything; and the only place in the dead of winter I see us strolling around is the mall anyway, haha.

Yes, my daughter was three when my son was born and I loved the double stroller. Now that they are 1 and 4, we still use it a lot for walks to the park or school, even if my 4 year old walks or rides her scooter, she never makes it the whole way and likes to sit in the stroller.

We love our double; and our kids are 26 months apart. However, DS always loved sitting in his stroller so we knew a double was a must for us.
Meanwhile, my BFF's son is younger than mine by a year and her kids are less than 2 years apart. And her son doesn't like sitting in the stroller so she didn't invest in one.

With only a 2 year difference I definitely would have gotten a double (we live in a city with no car). My kids are 3 years apart and we didn't need one by that time; we did the ride on board instead.

My kids are 26 months apart. We got a nice double stroller and we never used it much. I wish I hadn't gotten one and just worn the baby. We live in the suburbs and drive everywhere. I would love to walk places but it's just not possible.

@Pumpkin Pie: What year Uppababy is it? The new ones look pretty great. Also, do you live in a driving area? A walking area? How often do you use a stroller now?

I'd push a side by side and a double, and load both down with kids or weight to see what they feel like. City select and vista are like driving buses when loaded down; a lot of people is my very urban walkable area push CMGTs, mountain buggies, or BRITs.

@Anagram: it is an uppababy vista 2012. I'm trying to see if it is compatible with the Britax infant seat since thats what we have, but can't seem to find info. We do drive everywhere, but we also end up carrying LO1 a lot because she doesn't want to talk a lot.
