My girls started sharing a room last night so I am thinking about getting a video monitor but I wonder if it will be too late to be useful? They are 3 & 2.
Do you still use a video monitor for your preschool or toddler aged kids?

I often wish I had one for P. Last night I went in to check on her and she was asleep on her floor on top of a really uncomfortable toy. When we were transitioning to a toddler bed I really wished I had one. Still thinking it over. In your case, I would get one!!

E just turned 2 and I use one to spy on her during naps and bedtime!

I do for my 2.5 yo. It's great to see when they're talking themselves to sleep or night night wake ups, sitting up? Or still laying down? (If he's laying down he'll usually stop on his own.) you never accidentally wake them up...

Monitors are so helpful, we have them all over our house, so I would for sure put one in the bedroom in your situation.
You can always use it later, too, to keep an eye on them in a playroom.

DD is about to turn 3 and we still use the one in her room. It's helpful at nap time to know if she's actually sleeping or just playing. And when she's having a tantrum we can keep an eye on her.

I stopped using one with DS when he was 4 because it broke. The new monitor only had 1 camera so I use it for DD.
She turned 4 in March and I keep telling myself I can stop using it but I can seem to turn it off! If she was crying in her room and her door is shut I would not hear her in my bedroom.
DS I can trust to come to me if he needs me but sometimes DD just stays in bed and waits for us to come.

We do and DS is 2.5. We already had it though, and just added a second camera when we had DD.

She's 3.5 and still using it. I'm not ready to let go of seeing her and what she's up to.

I stopped using a baby monitor for awhile when DD was just in her own room and always wanted to leave the door open, and at one point thought about selling ours. But once they started room sharing we liked having it again to see what they were up to even if they weren't sleeping. It helps me decide whether I need to go in and intervene or not.
I think it would be useful for you since you're about to have a third. You can get something like the Motorola with the dual heads!

LO is 3 and we still use it (with no plans to stop). LO and baby #2 both sleep on the 2nd floor and our bedroom is on the first floor. Being able to see what's going on in their rooms saves me a trip up the stairs half the time!

we still have ours in DD's room which helps with her moving to a toddler bed. i'm just getting another monitor to add to our feed for the baby.

Yes, I find it more useful during the daytime when the kids are playing in their rooms. I can just check the camera instead of interrupting their play by walking in (they like playing with the door closed).

We still have it in LO's room that is 3, but never use it. It will get relocated to the nursery after LO #2 gets here. We have a 1 story house though, so its not a big concern if she gets up and comes out of her room for us.

We have a video monitor in both LOs rooms, mostly because they are on the bottom floor and our master is on the 3rd floor. For the older one (just turned 3), we can't even see anything at night. Mostly just use it in case she needs us in the MOTN bc of a nightmare or needs to go potty.

yes because my two share a room (almost 3 and 8 months old) but they hardly ever sleep at the same time in there. baby still sleeps with us.

We do and LO is 2.5. We check it far less than we used to and even sometimes forget to put it on, but it's nice to know when he's up and about his room instead of sleeping.

Go ahead and gasp, but we stopped using any kind of monitor altogether at around 12 months. Our video monitor crapped out, we tried to jury rig a monitor with our phones, and one night we just gave up and.... it was fine and it has been. The video monitor made me crazy because I would watch her every move.

I started using one for LO when he turned 2, and 2 years later we're still using the camera to check up on him.

We've always used the camera in DS' room! Will have one in LO#2's room too!

I was just thinking today that it might be a good idea to get o e for M's room. It's hard to spy on him when he's not quite asleep.
