Both my parents and in laws slightly prefers boys over girls. My in laws has 3 boys so I can see why they would. But I was a bit offended that even though my parents have 2 girls, that they still favor DS over DD. I am very deliberate about making sure DD gets ample face time with both her grandparents so they can see how cute she is as well.

My parents didn't/don't care but I think they secretly hoped that I was having a girl (which I did). But I don't think they actually have a real preference.

My parents and inlaws have no preference.. although, my parents hoped we were having a girl too.

They never said anything directly to me, but secretly I think they wanted me to have a boy first. When we told them we were having a boy, they were super excited. As for the 2nd child, my mom didn't care either way but I know my MIL really wanted us to have a girl. She said she didn't care either way but when we told her it was a girl, she seemed a little too overly happy. haha. Dead giveaway!

LO isn’t born yet but I think that they were all hoping for a girl (LO is a bouncing baby boy). There are already a lot of boys on both sides of the family so I’m pretty sure that they were hoping for something different. However, after getting over a little shock, they seem to have embraced the idea of having a grandson!

I think both sets of parents are equally happy with either although I know my FIL loves having a son and would love to have a grandson and my dad has 2 girls and did make a comment that he thought he would be getting a fishing buddy soon. I know our daughter will still go fishing with my dad though and I know he's so excited.

ILs have a very strong desire for us to give them a grandson! It's a cultural thing for them. We just hope to have healthy happy LOs. I don't think my parents will care either way.

My parents were hoping we'd have a girl because we have more boys than girls(only one) in my family. DH family is the complete opposite and were actually surprised we were having a boy because in his family they only have girls

I have the first grandchild on my side, so my mom didn't care either way, she just wanted a grandchild! But I do feel like she was extra excited when I said girl because she was thinking of all the cute things she could buy her and taking her to the nutcracker and other ballets like she did/does with me.
My MIL has 2 boys, and one other granddaughter already. I know she'd be excited either way too because she loves getting dirty with the boys, but she also loves dressing LO up in cute outfits and doing arts and crafts because she never got to do that with her boys.

I was told by my MIL while DH and I were still only DATING - that "I think it would be great if you guys got married someday. And having kids would be wonderful too - but it HAS to be a girl." She wasn't joking. Scared the crap out of me then...scares the crap out of me now. DH has 2 younger brothers and she was trying for a girl the whole time. Part of me wonders if I really want a girl now or not haha...

MIL wanted us to have a girl since she only had 2 sons. My parents probably did not have a preference but they do love girls, too.

I know for sure they totally didn't mind either way! Right now my mom has two grandsons and is loving every second with both. My MIL has three grandsons now and as far as I know she was just excited for ours to be the third!

Our LO is the only grandchild on both sides. I don't think anyone really had a true preference.

My mom definitely prefers a girl over a boy. She'd love them regardless, but she wants a little girl grandchild she can spoil with cute accessories!

Well both sides only have girls right now and they are very much loved. I know if we ever have a boy that he will be spoiled rotten by my dad! However, he loves his girls very much so they aren't bias.

I don't think my parents cared, but everyone thought I was going to have a girl with my first and I did. I'm pretty sure my in-laws wanted a girl since they have all boys (my husband has three brothers!) For the second kid, I was convinced it was a girl (I was referring to my kids as "the girls" before we even had an ultrasound) so I think everyone else kind of expected it, too. Except my sister, who REALLY wanted me to have a boy. She's pregnant now, so I guess she can go have her own boy.

I don't think either side had a real preference, but the Moms on both sides were adamant that we were having a boy (we didn't share what the gender was). I cracked up that they were SO SURE, and they were right!

I don't think so. We aren't planning on finding out what we are having and both my parents and my in laws are totally in support of this (and actually hoped we wouldn't find out) so that makes me think they really don't care since they weren't anxious to know.

I know my mother wanted a granddaughter. I think that is more based off of having raised a girl herself and that she would feel more useful, not necessarily sex preference.

@Rock n Roll: My in laws were the same (at least my MIL!) She has 3 sons, and was looking forward to some ladies in her life! I think she would be happy with all granddaughters! haha

My ILs would love for this LO to be a girl (we're Team Green) because there hasn't been a girl born into the McK family in 74 years. But my MIL (sort of jokingly) says that she's so used to the rough and tumble play of little boys that she wouldn't know what to do with a girl, lol.

No preference really in either of our families.
Of course now that there are 3 boys on my husband's side, my MIL is hoping for a girl next, but will be thrilled with either. They are just grateful that they went from 0 grandkids to 3 in 13 months.

So many prefer girls! I love it! I always knew my parents would prefer grandsons since they only have two girls (and it's a cultural thing). Turns out my in laws have the same preference. I have a son and a daughter and though I don't play favorites, I do have a soft spot for my little girl because her grandparents do slightly favor my son over her.

This is the first grandchild on both sides, so they don't really care. I assume that once we have one gender, if/when we get pregnant the second time, they will probably want the opposite gender. I have no idea though. No one has expressed their preference either way.

My parents already have two grandsons, so I think they are secretly on team pink!

I know they will be happy either way, but my MIL always says she imagines us with having a little brother for DD...I know she will say "I think it's a boy!!" until we find out the gender, but hopefully she won't be sad if it's a girl.
