Any experience with these baby nests that promise your baby will sleep like an angel? http://dockatot.com/
It has me conflicted b/c 1) I'm cheap, and it's a lot of money for a product that resembles our dog's bed, but 2) I'm a sucker for a product that promises helping your baby sleep!

I think it looks a little unsafe! The sides of it make me nervous. I've seen moms on my local breastfeeding FB group rave about it though. I'm curious if anyone here has used it.

I saw a celebrity post about it but noticed the sides aren't made of mesh. Then saw the price and decided I didn't need it.

It's not that different than a boppy newborn lounger. My babies loved that, but only for those still newborn days. I can't imagine a wiggly baby really staying put.

I would consider it as a cosleeper for a baby who doesn't roll yet. I used something similar. DS loves his crib now and it can't be used with a crib.

My friend bought one for her terrible sleeper (10 months old). It didn't work for them so she returned it

The sides don't look safe to me either.
If interested in a cosleeping nest type thing, I would suggest considering a changing pad (yup!). I tried it on a whim while traveling and it worked great to make sure our little baby stayed put and away from our pillows. Costs way less too.

Our neighbor let us borrow hers. We used it in the co-sleeper until she was 4 months in lieu of a swaddle and it was great! I don't know how much it is, but I'm glad we had it. Maybe my daughter is just a "good sleeper" though? It's hard to know...

I am nearly 100% confident that daycare has a tiny dog bed for similar purposes. I would never let a baby sleep in it because of the sides.

Thanks for the input. This is making me feel better about passing on it. I read reviews where parents said they pressed their faces to it to test if the sides really were breathable, and apparently they are. I liked the idea of having something snug and cocoon like for her--that was the main draw to it.

I don't believe any product that promises improved sleep! Night wakings are normal. I think the summer infant snuggle nest looks safer for cosleeping, but the dock a tot has passed safety standards, so I'm sure it's fine.

@Ms. RV: haha yep DD's daycare has a dog bed too! They told me the kids love it, it's in the room with 12 month olds...don't think it would go over well in the newborn room

@Happygal: @catomd00: @Beth24: Okay I am definitely sure it is a dog bed. I found it on Target's website. They use it for the wee little babies (DD stopped playing on it at 5 months). They never sleep on it, just a very soft place to play. It is always used for 1 on 1 time with the teachers so the babies are never unsupervised with it.

My immediate reaction was that it looked really unsafe, but apparently it's rigorously tested, and completely safe. That said, as intrigued as I am... I don't have a big enough bed or budget for one. So this baby will be sleeping in a bassinet.

@Ms. RV: omg lol it's actually kind of a genius idea now that I see a pic of if! Not for sleeping obviously, though my two year old would probably nap on the dogs bed if we let her!

this is actually really intriguing to me... when my son was a newborn he would not sleep on flat, firm surfaces like his bed. He would sleep well on me, in the crux of my arm, basically with any person... but not alone. I became so desperate for sleep that we laid him on a chiropractic pillow, it's a firm pillow that had two slightly raised sides like this dockatot. We didn't have him sleep in it overnight cause I was concerned that it was technically a pillow, though a firm one (but still softer than his bed), but he napped in it during the day when we were next to him and I remember wishing there was something safe that was also more snug/fitting for this tiny newborn body.. so this is something I would really consider investing in..

I would not let my baby sleep in that. I don't understand the rationale of adults pressing their faces to the sides to determine if it's breathable. Baby systems are more delicate and sensitive than ours - we can sleep on our stomachs with pillows and blankets, that doesn't mean our infants should!

I would consider it at 1 year+, but that does not look safe for infants to me. And yes, it was tested and approved..... but so was the nap nanny, and then it got recalled.

I could see it only as a good lounging place for an infant; in that case I'd get a dog bed
