Nope, I've never been referred to as Last Name and I've never heard DH referred to that way either. His coworkers just make up other names for him!

When I was in the army reserves we all called each other by our last names, even socially. Some of my old army friends still call me by my last name when I see them socially.

When we were living back in the States, no one ever called us by our last name. Now that we are in Japan, it's very common to be addressed by our last name. Japanese people always refer to each other by their last names, especially at work. I think only family or close friends use first names. Since we are foreign, we get half and half. Usually when we introduce ourselves, we tend to give our first name, so that's what they call us. If it's a more formal setting, where someone else is introducing us to other people, it's always last name first. Luckily our last name is not so hard to pronounce for the Japanese tongue, so it doesn't get too butchered.

My husband was referred to by his last name when he was in ROTC. But not anymore. It is sort of an unusual name.

Like Mynoahbear, it's common where we live to be addressed by your last name. In fact, when my husband is making a phone call, he says "Hello, this is LastName" (in German of course). He also answers his cell and office phone with just his last name.

Yep. Mostly people call me by my maiden last name - no one calls me by my married last name. I have worked with guys most of my life, so I think that started it. It also helps that there is another girl with the same name of me in our small company, so lastname I became. I don't mind it.

Yes, at my husband's work they are recognized primarily by their last name. A lot of the guys call him by a spinoff of our last name. They remove the -son and add -ee. They give a lot of nicknames at work and he definitely got lucky with what they call him. I feel bad for some of the other guys.

Sort of... our last name is a very common American boy's first name. People often mistakenly call my husband by his last name, assuming that the very Asian portion of his name is his last when it is actually his first. Many people assume that he fills out his forms incorrectly as well.

For me they know to call me by my very Asian first name since there is no way that my first name could be a boy's name.

When we first met, everyone at the company we worked at referred to DH by a shortened version of his last name. Some still call him by that as well. He hates it in reality, but never said anything at the time.

I get called by my maiden last name every once in awhile by husband's friends, they call him his last name exclusively or a spin off of it.

In High School, some people called my by my last name.

YES. DH is military, so everyone calls him by his last name and me "Mrs. HisLastName" or "Lady HisLastName".

Yeah, we're both former Army. He still had me in his phone under my last name when we got engaged. Sometimes I still slip (when we're out of the house) and call him by his last name.
