My LO just eats three meals and his dinner is pretty light. He still nurses 3 times (first thing I'm am, before nap, before bed). I marvel when I hear how other toddlers are eating 3 big meals AND two snacks. If I let my LO eat snacks he wouldn't be interested in mealtime. Anyone has a similar feeding situation??

Sounds like he's drinking his snacks?....I know if we let E have milk, she doesn't eat food

Yes, that's my kids. They rarely have snacks if I do a good job getting protein and healthy fats into them at meal times. If they eat only fruit or carbs they tend to need snacks.

My son is a grazer. He likes eating breakfast and lunch but has no interest in dinner. I feed him when he tells me he's hungry. I don't force him to eat if he's not interested.

@Orchid: I would imagine if you stopped nursing him he would want a snack - essentially he is eating 3 meals and 3 snacks (nursing)

My kiddo barely eats. I'm convinced she's just solar powered (hence, needing no sleep either). I think the breastmilk is giving your LO the snacks ... you'll know if he needs more.

My son rarely eats snacks at 2.5. He gets one at preschool in the morning, but not at home. If he snacks, he doesn't eat meals, so I don't usually offer. If he is hungry, I do a small fruit snack. It helps immensely with meals, which tend to be healthier.

If my LO (3 years) has snacks, it impacts how well she eats meals (unless she's having a growth spurt)...so what you've said makes sense to me!
My 15 month old, on the other hand, could eat all day and still be hungry!

No snacks over here either. I do nurse her in the am and pm though, similar to you. I offer her a snack after her nap and she almost never eats it, or maybe 1 bite and isn't interested. I figure she'll eat if she's hungry!
