If you baby wear a lot especially for naps does it intere with them being able to sleep alone at night? Or do you also co sleep?
Asking particularly about newborns or young infants but any input welcome.

Lo has napped on me, either in my arms or in ergo until she turned 9 months. Now her morning nap is in the ergo or car seat and afternoon nap is in her crib. She's always slept well in her crib at night.

When C was teeny she slept in the moby all the time, but we never co slept regularly (just occasionally on really bad sleep nights). She was not a good sleeper as a newborn or young infant, but I don't think it was because of the baby wearing. If anything she slept better alone when I wore her more during the day.

DD slept well at night and in a carrier. I never thought about there being a correlation between baby wearing and poor sleep. I'd have imagined it was the other way around.

we wore her a ton when she was an infant (still do) and she slept on her own just fine at night.

I've read a lot of literature put out by attachment parenting experts that suggest it's the other way around - that the secure attachment that is fostered by wearing can lead to better independent sleep. My son is/was a terrible sleeper, but my friends from babywearing group have some amazing sleepers, so who knows?

I didn't wear my first but he didn't STTN until 12 months. I wore DD1 all the time as a newborn and she STTN by 8 weeks. I wear DD2 even more and she has been sleeping through the night since 5 weeks (7 weeks now--knock on wood!) so from my experience, it hasn't interfered.

I worried about this too because I could not put LO down in her cot for naps when she was a newborn. She slept in there at night just fine though

It actually did interfere w/ sleep for us, but I don't know if that was because she slept so much in it during the day, or if she just liked being held.
