Hate the peanut gallery comments on this so much! We had our kids pretty close together, before those particular comments started (a year and a half apart) and that got a bunch of comments about how crazy we were to want kids that close. Apparently unless you're lucky enough to get a BFP with that exact 2 year spacing, you will get comments. Although those people probably get comments about the kids sharing birthdays. You can't win. And then the thoughtless comments if the kids are the same gender...yeah, I'm getting really good at ignoring people, because there is ALWAYS some new obnoxious comment people like to make for whatever your situation is. Sigh.

But I know it's really tough getting those comments when you're TTC already. I'm sorry!

I usually just said "well this one keeps us plenty busy so when she settles down we will think of another" even though we were TTC. As Salt n Peppa say "it's none of yo business!"

@Littlebit: yes! My 9 month old takes two naps and everyone seemed to think it was crazy. "And you're putting him to bed at 7? Isn't it too early?!"

"You aren't going to make it to your due date."

"You get bigger and bigger every time I see you."
Last time I checked that was a normal part of pregnancy thankyouverymuch.

@blackbird: @MapleMoose: Last year, my mother thought I "had let myself go" and my grandmother thought I "was "settling" into marriage! (I didn't announce until 20 weeks, but srsly.)

@MapleMoose: I couldn't think of a comeback fast enough so i just stared at her and said, "yeah, that's what i was going for". My friend said I should tell her that she looks good, for being a grandma. HA.

@Leah: E had a 6:45 bedtime until probably a month ago (now it's 7:15/7:30) so we still get those. I don't want a crabby baby in the AM #notsorry

Mom "ooh, I like those lamps. Are they new?"
Me " no, those were in our bedroom."
Mom then opens the master bedroom door, notices some art has been moved, then checks out walks the guest bedroom, my office etc.
Mom "I see you still like to re-arrange things."

Yes, yes I do. TYVM for walking all through my house when all you needed to do was sit down in the kitchen with me.

Considering I was around DH's entire extended family, I didn't get any! I do have to say though, these boards have helped me check myself a lot about my own comments. One of DH's cousins has been married for several years now and I want to ask SO bad if they're going to have children, but I now know better (IF, don't want kids, whatev - none of my business!). I tried to open up the conversation to allow her to mention her children plans, but she never took the opportunity.

I got the "you look bigger than the last time we saw you" from my MIL. Yeah, I wasn't 9 months pregnant then.

@Littlebit: @Leah: Sooooo many comments on the sleep. My 11 month old is on 2 naps and goes to bed at 7 p.m. He's cutting molars, so sleep the night before Thanksgiving was non-existent. My mom made one too many comments around naptime (which he fought like a pro) like, "How can you let that baby cry," and "I could get him to sleep and he's obviously not tired," and I lost it and snapped. Then she ignored me most of the day. Awesome.

And my family also thinks I'm crazy our son goes to bed so early. But I love it!

@blackbird: @swurlygurl: @tanjowen: I guess most people don't know how much sleep is recommended for babies/children?? It didn't help that my SIL's kids were running around after 10, or even 11, at night.

"Hi, nice to meet you... Is that a baby in there??" More funny and strange than annoying, but still pretty awkward.

We didn't see my husband's extended family, so thankfully, we dodged all the "When are you having another one?" comments. But from his mom, I must have heard, "He looks exactly like Hubs!" about a hundred times, even though EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD says they can't tell who he looks like.

@swurlygurl: It has to be my IF journey, but I don't even want to ask DH's newly married cousins about their family plans. I'm afraid they tell me that they are already pregnant. I'll just prepare myself mentally for the announcement.
