I have a party this weekend and I thought it was cocktail apparel but it is actually "snappy casual." What on earth do I wear? Plus I am in that limbo zone of pregnancy where I have a bump but really it just looks like I put on a few pounds so nothing fits or lays right. It's Saturday so I don't have much time to shop and my wardrobe is pretty bare bones.

Black leggings, tall boots, and some kind of tunic or open/drapey sweater! Do people know you are pregnant, or are you trying to disguise it? If so, maybe a scarf or statement necklace to draw attention up and away from the midsection!

Dark skinny jeans, ankle booties, and a flowy blouse and statement necklace, come to mind. That's what I wore to a 40th at 15 weeks. You could still see my bump, but it wasn't on showcase.

@winniebee: I interpreted it to mean "cool/chic/fashionable" - like something I'd wear for girls night drinks. I wonder if whoever is sending the invitation has some friends/family members who would interpret "casual" as a baseball jersey and gym shorts, and they're trying to avoid THAT casual of a look
Although I don't know anyone (other than grandmas) who says "snappy", hehe

Why must people be so opaque with dress code labels?? I Googled and it sounds kind of like what I wear to work, haha.
I've been mainly wearing side-panel maternity skinny pants (black or jean) with flowy tops and cardigans. You could dress it up more with a blazer if needed. And agree that a great necklace could take it up a notch, but I'm not that fashionable with jewelry
It's actually kind of amazing how different I look in my lounge-at-home clothes (either fat or pregnant) and in my work clothes (honestly, I look fairly normal as long as I'm standing).

Thanks ladies! I randomly found a little black dress I forgot I owned that magically looks good right now so I'm going with that! I appreciate the ideas, the woman who set the dress code is a phenomenally well dressed person so while I'd normally assume it meant jeans and a nicer than usual top she had me questioning it but I figure you can't go wrong with a lbd!

"Snappy casual" is not a thing! Why do that to your friends? I'm sure you'll be good with an LBD.

One step up from tshirt and jeans. What you would wear out to dinner with a friend.
