Not sure where to put this, but I've noticed a lot of mention about the umbilical cord stump when it comes to cloth diapering.
This is probably a total mom "newbie" question, but does that mean regular disposable diapers don't mess with the umbilical cord stump? And how about dressing LO before it falls off?
I hear they should wear separates, but also that everyone loves one-pieces? Can they not wear one-pieces until the stump falls off? And you can't bathe that area? Sorry if this is all over the place. The stump has got me stumped!

you just fold down the front flap of the disposable diapers so it doesn't irritate the stump, or newborn cloth dipes have a scoop in the front for the same purpose. we didn't dress our babes any differently before and after it fell off. and you just washcloth bath the baby til the stump comes off and the spot is dry. it's usually a week or two.

We just left the stump alone and just folded LO's diaper down so it wouldn't brush up against it.
She wore onesies and separates. Mostly separates though (Korean brand kimono type shirts). Not for the stump, but mainly for convenience. Kimono shirts are easier to put on and take off. -
Same as above. A lot of newborn diapers come with a notch cut out for the stump. Or you can fold it down. We dressed LO in onesies and had no issue with rubbing. The pediatrician said onesies were fine.

@chopsuey119: Kimono tops do seem more convenient, but I was looking at one-piece kimono types. I will have to keep my eye out for kimono top separates!

@shopaholic: If you go to Ktown you can find really good quality and cheap kimono tops. They have built in mittens too. My mom bought LO maybe a dozen. They're still in great shape (LO wore them from NB-almost a year old) so baby boy's gonna wear them too.
Love that they grew with her. They were large obviously when she was a NB, but eh. We didn't go out much and they were comfy.
