DS, age 3, has a walnut allergy so we’re prepped for a allergic emergency response (epipen, benedryl). I'm sure that makes me overreact and I’m wondering if anyone else has experience in this area. I will be emailing his allergist but want to know if I need to add any details to clarify or rule things out.

Last night I noticed DS had a 2” wide ring of hive-like bumps (they looked like hives but my dr said hives have a minimum diameter and I don't recall what that criteria is) around his neck and a patch of the bumps/hives on one wrist. They were very itchy. He described being itchy in a few other spots on his back and chest.

He was running around the house in a dinosaur costume that was in contact with those areas. He wasn't sweaty or overheated, his cheeks weren’t and this didn't look anything like heat rash. He also asked for water for his mouth which struck me as odd because this kid only drinks milk. I took the costume off and gave him benedryl and watched him throughout the night.

This was about 30 minutes after dinner. He had his regular peanut butter sandwich on his regular bread, cucumber and some fresh peach. My initial thought was oral allergy syndrome reaction from the peach but the reaction was limited to just the areas in contact with the edge of the costume so I think it might be that.

Any thoughts?
