Have you ever heard of a family bed?

My daughter is 5 and sometimes has trouble sleeping in her own bed. (I'm going to blame that on co-sleeping way too long) but I would say 90% of the time she goes to bed just fine.

When I was pregnant, I belonged to a 2006 pregnancy group and I am still friends with many of those women. It's nice to see how all of the children are growing up on Facebook and find out who is doing what. (One of them has lost a baby tooth already!!! So not ready for that!)

Anyway, on our FB page, I mentioned that she was having trouble with sleeping in her room and one of the ladies mentioned that she never stopped co-sleeping. They turned their bed into a family bed. Her LO sleeps with them on a nightly basis. In fact, she can't even call it a family bed because her husband now sleeps in the guest room.

I'm wondering if anyone is doing this and what are the long term effects on your relationship with your husband/SO, and the long term effects on your child?

Personally...my daughter sleeps just like me and we only need one of those in our bed. When we do let her sleep in our bed, one of us wakes up with either her butt on our face or someone's little feet have made it to FH's sensitive private spot and he's out of bed instantly nursing "the wound". I can't imagine doing this every night.
