Do you have any family memberships?
I think next summer when dd2 is old enough to enjoy it we might ask for a zoo membership for one of their birthdays. But right now we don't have any family memberships.

We're going to ask for zoo and science centre memberships for LOs next bday because she'll be 3 and we'll have to start paying for her

We did a children's museum when he was 18 months old. And now we have a local zoo membership. May get a science center one because I get an education discount.

We have one to our local rec center, but that's it. We live too far away from any of the main attractions (zoo, museum, etc.) to make it worth it.

We have a zoo and museum membership but now that we've moved they are pretty inconveniently located. Not sure what we'll do once these expire. I loved the memberships because I didn't feel bad if LO acted up or wanted to leave quickly.

We have a membership to a museum with an enormous outdoor component. I would like to get another membership but she hates the car so we are waiting until we will be better able to take advantage.

We have taken the most value from reciprocal memberships. We travel a lot so we have had free entry's into many different museums etc. but we regularly drive hours and hours away for different things.
Oh and for two years we had memberships to dland with the mouse.

We have a membership to the local children's museum and one to the nature center where my son attends preschool.
My husband's job offers discounted/free admission to a lot of places around here, so we take advantage of that.

Currently the zoo and the kids museum. We will always have the zoo membership as DS is obsessed with animals. We won't be getting the kids museum one again, it's too far away and we don't go enough to make it worth it.

Our zoo membership is well-worth it! We go all the time.

Most everything is free here. If the Magic House wasn't such a crazy place on the weekend, I'd want a membership there

We have one to all the nyc zoos. We go a lot when the weather is nice.

@regberadaisy: is your zoo inexpensive? We have a family membership because going three times pays for itself! Ours is kind of expensive, though!

We have a family membership to a cultural organization in our county. It gets us into several places and events. It's well worth it dor us.

We have family memberships to the local zoo, toddler amusement park and county park system (covers parking, farm admission & swim fees). It definitely encourages us to go out more since we don't have to worry about getting our money's worth each visit.
We might not renew the toddler amusement park membership. It's the furthest drive and we still need to pay $5 for parking. I prefer places that cost nothing once you have the membership.

We have the aquarium, science museum, and Mass. Audubon (gets us access to nice hiking trails and nature centers).

We would buy a zoo membership except my dad has a membership that includes us.

We do lots of family memberships to different museums. The main reason is with a family of six the family membership is usually just a few dollars more than one trip. We Also do our local zoo.

We have a membership to our local kids museum. We need to go more often, this year we have been slacking off.

We just got a zoo membership and have a gym membership that has unlimited childcare plus family pool time on weekends.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yeah it's def cheaper than a lot of other zoos based off what I've seen on here. And about twice a year there is usually a local Groupon deal and I'll pick up tickets then. Something like $20 for 2 adults and 2 kids. In the past I've found Groupon coupons and paid like $10 for the four tickets!

None here. We are thinking about getting a CSA which would include unlimited access to the farm and it's special events. I just don't know if we'd use off the food. They do have a delivery spot in our neighborhood, but the actual farm is an hour away. Most of our museums and the National Zoo are free. Thinking about a zoo membership because it includes parking and with all the track work on Metro lately on the weekends, metro is a mess. I live in the DC area.

@regberadaisy: that's so nice! Ours is nothing to get excited about but it's pretty expensive -- we can slowly walk through, stop to eat and still be out in two hours.

We just signed LO up for the Y, I think we might do a yearly pass for Sesame Place - its like 15 minutes from my office and maybe the zoo. But i dont feel like we'll take advantage that much because of work and only going on the weekends. If i was a SAHM I could see us doing that almost every week to get out of the house.

zoo and children's museum. we use the heck out of the children's museum right now but once weather gets nicer we'll hit the zoo more!

@Chillybear: @Rainbow Sprinkles: how much is the Y? What's included?
pomegranate / 3032 posts
We did it primarily for the swim lessons... at our Y you only need the child to have the membership which is $20/month and then each swim session is only $50 (7 weeks of classes). With the membership we can partake in special events like the easter egg hunt, family swim sessions, and open time in the kid zone indoor playground.

Zoo, Children's museum, science museum, silly little forestry museum, and we pay monthly to belong to a local play space coop. I hate sitting at home, so we like to have a lot of activities to go out and do. I feel really lucky to live in a city with so much for us to get out and experience.
