Super cheap but my LO loved her little umbrella doll stroller. I love that I could fold it up and stick it under our big stroller. And it's like $10-20.
My almost 3 year old also still uses her little ride on toy she got for her first bday. And now the 7 month old likes to play with it too.

DD received a cute Little People house that she loves. She also was gifted a VTech puppy that plays music and teaches some letters, etc that she also really likes.

I was not thrilled when DD received this monstrosity for her first birthday (https://www.diapers.com/p/productname-858279), but I have to admit, 6.5 months later she still plays with it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. She can push it, ride it, roll her toys around in or on it, and push one of the katrillion buttons to make lots of noise. She completely adores it.

@mfa_lady: we have something similar that DS got for his 1st birthday. Both kids use it daily (DS is 4 in a few weeks).

@mfa_lady: that's the same one we have. She still uses it multiple times a week at 3. And the baby likes pushing the buttons and rolling t back and forth. The music is annoying but way less annoying than whining.

As a mom, I prefer anything that doesn't make a noise or light up. However, my daughter LOVED this and got tons of use out of it.
Also, tbh, she used it as a chair mostly at first, but she did enjoy it a lot.

This is my gender neutral go to gift for a one year old. You can get it at Target. It's the best looking plastic toy I have ever seen.

I think the presents he got with the most longevity and use were the cozy coupe and a water table.

@Mrsbells: I gave that to DS when he was 1 and he loved it! I kind of wish I hadn't given it to my nephew!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I have that sitting in my garage along with the b. parum steering wheel! Would you believe that it didn't sell at my garage sale? They were two of the ony toys that didn't sell. Probably because of the noise factor, ha!

@Foodnerd81: haha! Hell yes to annoying kids toys being less annoying than whining

@Foodnerd81: I second this! My daughter LOVES her doll stroller. Pushes it all over the house all day, every day.

This is still a real hit. She likes to build as well as climb in the wagon and make me push her around

@matador84: no way! I love the toy because at least the noise isn't an artificial sound.

The Ybike is our go to first gift since it can act as a walker and later transitions to a sit on bike when they're a bit older.

Probably the little stroller he got. It's a standard play stroller in blue and white gingham. But the gift givers personalized it and got his name painted on it.
He's now nearing 2yo and it's still the one thing he plays with several times a day. We got him a Manhattan baby doll (not Stella, the boy one) for it and he's obsessed with pushing the baby. Or just using it like a shopping cart and loading stuff in it and pushing it around.
This year for our round of friends kids birthdays I'm doing these (mix of 1 and 2 year olds). They are SO PLUSH and absorbent and just adorable. They hold up extremely well. We use as a beach towel but I know people who use as bath. And it's not something they will outgrow. It's HUGE, adult sized beach towel. She has many different designs. But beware it's something you have to plan (4-ish weeks is her turn around). Shop is Jamie Delong on Etsy.

Activity Table if they don't have one yet. We've had one since before DD turned 1, but even at 19 months she still likes it haha!

We live in a small apartment, so other than the ridiculously large fisher price car my in-laws got him, we stuck to small gifts. Like an old camera. It had a wheels, buttons and sliding things. And it looked like what the adults used!
Since both DH and I wear glasses, we also got him some cute little sunglasses he loves to put on and off.
Probably the biggest hit has been some small stacking cups. They're fun to stack, knock over, use as hats and play with water in the tub.
