I'm such a kid. I also like strawberry & carrot (anything with cream cheese frosting, really!)

From scratch? We love Paula Deen's pound cake. I made it for LO's 1st birthday and asked the Bees for their fave pound cake recipes. It didn't disappoint!
From a mix we always do a mix of white/funfetti and chocolate cupcakes for holidays and bdays.

The easy chocolate cake on the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder can, but with these changes:
- Use Special Dark cocoa powder
- Replace the boiling water with hot coffeeI don't like the Hershey frosting, so we do ganache, caramel sauce, or just plain white icing (thin powdered sugar and vanilla with milk until pourable). Or cream cheese frosting.

Boxed is funfetti with betty Crocker rainbow chip frosting or yellow with chocolate frosting. I make my own versions now and much prefer those. So if homemade usually anything chocolate!

But instead of that icing I fill it with jam and fresh strawberries, and then cover it with whipped cream. It's so amazing!
Recently I also made the best trifle-type cake. I used store-bought soft ladyfingers and made a whipped cream with lemon zest and almond extract. Then I alternated lady fingers, jam, whipped cream, and fresh strawberries. It was seriously one of the best desserts I've ever made!

I've made them from scratch and they taste the same as from the box, so I always just use the box now -

I think bundt cakes are fun and they're easier than doing a layer cake and much prettier than a sheet cake.

Carrot Cake is my favorite especially when it's dryer and has a little bit of a crumble to it that sticks to the frosting.

German chocolate, Italian Cream cake (if you've never had it, think carrot cake sans the carrot and spice -- very rich!), Boston Cream Cake, and Lemon Chiffon.

I love strawberry shortcake and angel food cake. For birthday parties I like ice cream cake and cookie cake. I usually have both every year for my birthday.
