I like to get the girls movies for Christmas and in their stocking. We have most of the Disney princess movies but that's about it. What are your kids favorites? On my list is Home, Toy Story 2-3, and Monsters Inc. but that can change!

@LuLu Mom: Toy Story's are great, any Pixar movie really. Inside out is cute too.

Song of the Sea is a favorite. It's really a beautiful movie, we've watched it 3x as a family. It's on Amazon Prime for free right now but I'm going to buy it as a stocking stuffer.

Jungle Book is DD1's absolute favorite. She also likes Lady and the Tramp, Tarzan and Monster's Inc. (as well as Frozen, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast). She's getting Aladdin and Toy Story for Christmas.

We don't have any kids movie on DVD. But I just bought her My Neighbor Totoro! It was one of my favorites growing up. I have had it on her wish list for a while and the price dropped, so I grabbed it for her stocking.

@rattles: oooh, Jungle Book is a good one since my 3.5 year old LOVeS animals. Are there any scary parts? It's been probably over a decade since I watched it!
@mrsjazz: what's it about?

@regberadaisy: Mine has always preferred animals to princesses. I hadn't seen it in ages and could now recite it in my sleep It's not scary. The snake tries to hypnotize him and a tiger chased him in one scene, but that's it. She tells us that snakes are tricky now, but doesn't seem scarred. She's terrified of the Little Mermaid and on the fence about Cruella deVille for a frame of reference.

My boys are totally into princess movies right now! They also enjoy bolt and N loves the lion guard commercials. He keeps asking for the lion movie. We haven't tried The Lion King yet. He is pretty sensitive so I am a little worried.

@rattles: haha she's 3.5 and is not into princesses, yet. I'm not holding my breath that it'll completely escape her. But for now she is much more into animals and sports!

@rattles: my LO loves the Jungle Book too, although for her there were scary parts (the fight between the bear and tiger, the fire at the end, the tiger lunging at Mowgli) - but most of those actually time up perfectly on the DVD with chapter breaks so they are super easy to skip through if a LO finds them scary. Oddly enough, my LO doesn't find Cruella scary at all
The old Disney classics some others have mentioned are great. My LO liked Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan, Jungle Book, 101 Dalmatians, Robin Hood and all the princess movies.
There is also a Sophia the First DVD that has 4 princess episodes on it that LO is currently obsessed with (the Jasmine, Belle, Mulan and Tiana episodes, as well as some bonus episode)
Tinkerbell movies
The original Care Bears movies
Semi-vintage (90's?) "House of Mouse" - there is a Halloween one with villains LO likes, and a Christmas one I think
