@littleblessings: so glad to hear that it's not cancer!

I'm going back on the pill for bc, not my prefer choice but it'll do for now. I was going to do an IUD but I'm not comfortable with the idea of a piece of plastic in my body. It's too bad too because I'm the perfect candidate (no more children for a couple of years)

Miss R had her 2 month wellness visit today, she gained 3 pounds but then she also got her first rounds of shots, watching them give shots doesn't get easier

On another note, she has had a rough sleep schedule for the past week, waking every 2 hrs or so. I really hope it's just a growth spurt and it turns the corner soon, I'm getting really tired.

Super busy otherwise, gearing up for M's 2nd birthday party this sunday so I've been running around trying to get everything so I'm not rushing around this weekend.

@lavender: I'm back on the pill, too. I don't love hormonal birth control but I'm also not comfortable with an IUD so a pill every day it is! Can't believe that R is so big! I hope her sleep changes soon.

Just catching up with everyone's updates, it seems like everyone has had their own challenges to overcome. Motherhood, definitely the world's hardest job, right?
We're finally out the other side of baby blues here, although I am still way more emotional than I used to be. I think it helped a lot that CJ has been doing longer stretches at night and will do one or two wake ups a night. Sleep can be amazing!
CJ is finally starting to make some significant weight gains and is now 9lbs 7oz. This week he's been particularly gassy and I felt like his latch was getting worse, especially seeing my husband give him a bottle - we have teats that mimic breast. I was checking his mouth while he was asleep to check his tongue tie hadn't grown back and I noticed he had an upper lip tie Poor little guy - I had no idea that it was so hard for him even just to eat! We're booked in to a dental specialist on Monday to get that snipped too.
Fingers crossed it helps both his latch and his tummy!

@SweetMamaM: glad you found the tongue tie early and can hopefully improve his feeding.

So I was supposed to have my 6 week appt yesterday but when I got there at 2pm they told me my appt was at 11am instead which I was very upset about because they called my moms number the day before to let me know because I had her number down as an alternative just incase and she didn't relay the message to me right so I had no clue it had been moved up so they rescheduled it for Monday and of course my MW that I have seen my whole pregnancy and even delivered my LO won't be the one seeing me since she'll be on vacation ugh so I have to see one of the other ladies there which I know they are all good and nice but I'm just so attached to my MW.

So do any of your LOs have nicknames yet? I call Noah poot poot because soon as we would changed his diaper when he first came home he would poop and we would have to change him again lol but I'm sure I won't call him that as he gets older.

Here's a pic I took yesterday of him falling asleep he was just smiling away it was just too cute.

Ds had a weight check the other day. Now a whopping 10.5 lbs. guess my milk is satisfying.

On another note grandma and grandpa are coming to take the kids. They have been takin turns sleeping. I feel like a bad mother for not being able to handle only having 3 hours of sleep in 48 hours but my patience is wearing thin and I don't like that so the kids are going out for a bit so this mama can sleep.

@littleblessings: Sounds like a good idea. No one should be expected to function on 3 hours of sleep!!

@MrsKoala: It's okay!! Life is crazy with a new babe, I put no expectations on any new mom because I have learned that I can barely keep up as well! I literally have to go through my text messages every couple days to make sure I have responded to everyone

  8. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

Sorry I'm not responding to everyone. I'm reading every last post and keeping up with you all but usually don't have time/energy to reply. I'm sure everyone can relate!!

    Here's my update.
T is sleeping about 6 hours for his first stretch of sleep every night! Loving it. I figured out why he pops on and off of the breast so much when feeding. He can't handle my fast let down and oversupply. I pumped today for the first time in a while (didn't nurse much during the night because he's sleeping longer YAY! But I was engorged) and he nursed about an hour afterward and stayed latched the whole time. Just going to have to start pumping everyday. I hate pumping.

I figured out how to get the car seat out of the car easily! But my incision burns a lot now and hurts. They said I only popped the top layer of skin and it'll heal on its own pretty quickly though so that's good but I feel like I'm basically starting my recovery over, which sucks. I hate "taking it easy". I've been doing it since I was 7 months pregnant. My back is also feeling like it did at 40 weeks pregnant. If I bend over too long or if I'm too active it gets so sore and painful.

I'm still loving Mommyhood! My little man is my world.

My MW was recommending Paraguard for me, but I have yet to hear or read a positive story about it. With the PPD, I can't do hormonal birth control, at least for a few years. So for now its condoms (which we both hate) and spermicide. We used to pull out, and that worked fine for 4 years before we started trying to get pregnant. But, we absolutely cannot have any "oopsies" right now. In the words of Liz Lemon...Blerg.

    @Honeygold89: What a cute smile!
    @SweetMamaM: how'd the appt go?
@Danizaur: I know it's not fun, and it's easier to say but definitely try taking it easy and hope your feeling better.

LO has started to refuse the bottle this week. Not cool, I go back to work in 3 weeks- and I have no BM saved and she will be primarily on formula b/c I am able to only pump once during the day (lunch) and I know I won't have enough for her. Since the beginning she has had no problem with the bottle or the formula (began supplementing b/c of low supply) but all of a sudden this week it's been a struggle with a bottle of pumped milk and an even bigger struggle with a bottle of formula. The only way she will remotely touch it is if it's really warm.

  11. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@lavender: thanks. Try changing bottles maybe that will help and Noah is the same way he doesn't like cold milk so if I take milk out of the refrigerator I have to run warm water over it til it warm and no chill on it at all or he won't drink it

Woah I haven't been here in a while and there's so much going on! Cuuute babies! Glad it's not cancer @littleblessings! That is so scary; I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

RE: the mamas dealing with tongue and lip ties: FYI, lip tie is nearly never present without also a posterior tongue tie, and vice-versa. Feeding won't improve unless both are addressed. DD 1 had hers both lasered and it made a world of difference!

Here is my 8 week old darling, and one with her big sister who turns 2 on Monday!

@lavender: thanks for asking! The appointment went well, they did the correction and we had a bit of a sad little man the following day but his latch is a lot better. He still fights feeding without the shields though, I think it's more of a preference for him. At almost seven weeks, I might just have to suck it up. Planning to wean at six months so might just have to suck it up.

  19. artsyfartsy

    cantaloupe / 6692 posts

@SweetMamaM: I've had no luck with weaning from the shield either. I want so badly to nurse without it but he latches on decently enough and my nipples aren't sore anymore and I have an oversupply...so whatever I guess. We may just reevaluate it later but I'm not concerning myself with it now.

How is everyone and all the babies doing?

Here's Noah at his 2 month check up this morning he was 10lbs 11oz and 22 1/4 inches long. He was such a big boy getting his shots he only cried when she stuck him and once the needle was out he just looked at me lol he was sleep before we left the office. The bottom picture is him in his bassinet the other day he likes to turn sideways now. He's such a happy and good baby he sleeps 6-8 hours through the night with only one feeding around 4 am then back to sleep til 10/11am it's great! I love mommy hood and still EBF it's going great!

@Honeygold89: How cute! Glad it's going good!

Our board is so quiet now! Everyone's busy with the new babies. Can't believe it's been two months...more even for some of us!

Update: We are doing well! BF is going good...still using nipple shields but he's almost perfected his latch, although sometimes he gets lazy and just doesn't want to latch properly. No more nipple pain. Maybe they're a little more sensitive but I think that's to be expected! Overall it's going well and I'm starting to enjoy it. I think we got passed the hellacious part of it. Job well done! It was worth it!

He's almost up to 12 pounds from what we can tell by weighing him at home. He goes for his two month check up on Friday and gets his shots!

We struggled with nap times (we've mastered night sleep) but the last two days have been successful! I think we've figured him out and can get him down for a nap on time.

And biggest update, I'm back to work. First time since October! Pumping twice while working just 8-12 but I start back full time this week so I'll be pumping 4 times. It's going very well! LO thrives at his babysitter's and takes bottles well. I cried on my first day back but now I'm starting to feel more like myself again...so being a WOHM was definitely worth it. I love being a mom but it's nice to be a kick ass woman who's good at her job and knows what she's doing for a few hours, because at home I have no idea what's going on half the time. Lol!

TL;DR: Overall it's going great! Just learning as we go.

@Honeygold89: What a cutie!! He is so sweet!

@Danizaur: Glad BF is going so well. That is wonderful! We got some good advice about the 2 month shot visit. Feed them right after, no matter if they are supposed to eat then or not, and let them sleep. Basically let them rule the schedule/routine that day. It definitely helped DS. We also gave him some tylenol to help with the night sleep since he was pretty fussy. GL!

    Our Update:

At his 2 mo appt he weighed 10.9 lbs and was over 24 in long. We have a long babe!! We went back a week later because of some issues and he was 10.14 lbs. So he is definitely growing well.

He gives us lots of smiles and coos. The funniest is later in the evening we will get him to smile, and then he melts down into tears. Just too much emotion at that time of night! He loves Pat-A-Cake. I move his hands around (roll it, pat it, mark it with a B) He loves the mark it with a B part! He is a big snuggler. Makes burping him hard sometimes because he just tries to nuzzle into our necks. Still does not like Tummy Time but enjoys it more when he is on my chest. He is getting better at turning his head side to side. Still no real "push up" yet. His night sleep is going well. Normally bed by 7:30 PM, wakes to eat between 2-4 AM, then back to sleep until 7ish AM. Last night was a weird night. Put him down by 7:30 PM. Cried on and off until 8:30 PM. DH's Mom was watching him so she ended up rocking him to sleep because he could not settle himself in that hour. Then he slept until 6:30 AM this morning! Crazy. Wondering if he would do better with a later bed time? Idk!

Now the bad stuff... Ped is pretty sure he has Reflux. We got a Sensitive Formula (bye bye lovely organic formula!) and are adding Rice Cereal to it to help it weigh down in his belly. We also are giving him Maalox twice a day, which is a short term solution. Will probably start him on Zantac next week. He is able to sleep well in his crib at night, which we elevated. We brought the RnP back out for naps. He has been taking some better naps in there. Only problem is his sleep is broken during naps. He will have a good 45 min-1 hr stretch, then sleep and wake every 20-30 minutes until its time to eat again. He fusses and then falls back asleep.

He is a good and happy baby though! We love him!

Picture from Day 2 on the left, and Day 62 on the right! He is 11 weeks on this coming Tuesday!

T is 6w3d old today. He felt especially heavy when I was feeding him so I put him on our scale. He is 13lb 4oz! I am still having issues with nursing, but so far he is still exclusively breastmilk-fed, and at least I am not concerned about him eating enough.

Only 5 weeks left of maternity leave for me. We have started our nanny search.

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@Danizaur: thanks glad you and baby T are doing well that's good that you got to daddy back into work before going back full time. Me and DH talked about me going back to work but he thinks it's a better idea to just focus on school and Noah so I start back to classes May 19th but they'll be online until aug then I'll be back on campus and Noah will be going to daycare which we already picked out. I'm fine with that but on the other hand I do miss working but I guess school and Noah will keep me busy enough. next week with work

@citymouse: thank you! He's so cute and really growing he's gonna be tall glad to hear things are going well. Noah is the same and only take short naps during the day but I put him down for bed around 8:30-9:30 depending on how busy me and DH are and he does great. I hope his reflux gets better I remember my niece having that.

@ElbieKay: as long as he's growing the the main thing

Noah will be 10 week Thursday! Time is moving

Hi all. Glad to hear you all are well. But where are all my February mom's whose babies are not sleeping well! 12 weeks postpartum, and LO is still waking up every three hours on a good night. We've tried it all....

  27. Honeygold89

    nectarine / 2527 posts

@raintreebee: aww what normally works for me is giving him a nice warm bath with Johnson's bedtime wash and then rubbing him with the bedtime lotion and powder, feeding and making sure he's dry and then rocking him to sleep and that does it for him

I haven't checked in in eons. Sorry ladies! Glad to see everyone's doing well. Pictures are so cute. We have his two month appointment coming up next week but at 1 month he was in the 97th percentile or higher for height, weight and head circumference. Our not so little man! Still feeding well (EBF but will take a bottle of expressed milk from DH or Granny - which is reassuring with the impending doom of daycare looming on the horizon). I am so not ready to go back to work, oh well. I know he'll be fine but it breaks my heart.

@raintreebee: three hours sounds heavenly - we're back to every two this week for some reason!!

@Danizaur: Still using shields here too, hun. It is what it is and at least our bubbas are getting the food that they need.
@citymouse: That sucks about the reflux but sounds like you have a good plan. I hear you on the weird sleep thing. CJ had a meltdown of epic proportions all of Sunday afternoon/evening, finally going down at 9:30pm and not waking until 7:45. I thought that my boobs were going to explode. Similar last night but just from 6:00 til 8:30. While the sleep was awesome, I'm not up for non-stop screaming to get there!
@ElbieKay: Wow! I'm pretty sure your baby is way bigger at 6 weeks than mine is now. It's been a couple of weeks since his weigh in but he was just shy of 5kg at that point.
@Honeygold89: Noah is such a cutie! Crazy that he is 10 weeks next week! I still can't believe CJ is two months old!
@raintreebee: Can't help you there, but I know how you feel. All my coffee group mamas are talking about how their kid naps three times a day… my son SO did not get that memo.

As for us, we're doing alright. It's been a bit challenging coming to terms with having an active baby - CJ just does not sleep that often and that is hard with being at home alone for 11 or so hours a day. We've started to go out more often in the last couple of weeks though and that's definitely helped both his sanity and mine!
He's showing a real personality which is awesome (most of the time) and I can already see he's going to be an awesome, sociable guy. He doesn't mind hanging out with different people - he just doesn't like being alone We left him with his grandparents for five hours while we ran some errands and he was absolutely fine with that.
He is having an absolute cracker of a week though - oh my goodness. He's always had a bit of a witching hour from 6:00 in the evening for about an hour where he would be a bit of a grizzlebutt but for the last two days it has been full on inconsolable crying… so fun… not. Eff you wonder weeks, give me my normal baby back!

@OldEnglandMama: It's not so bad once you get back to work. I just finished my 4th day and first full 8 hour day and I feel almost like a normal person again. When I'm home alone with T I feel like I'm just trying to survive!
@SweetMamaM: T does the inconsolable crying too in the evenings. Basically I try and keep him on the boob until it gets close enough to bedtime then we put him to bed!

@SweetMamaM: Thanks! I think all us February mamas made some super cute photogenic babies! I'm so glad I logged in to see what's been going on
@Danizaur: That's good to hear. I just know I'll be an emotional wreck but hopefully too busy to notice. It's going to be a whole lot of confusion for the little man though. The same week his daddy goes back up to Maine for 6 weeks of training (ironically pediatrics), his Granny flies back to England, he gets his shots, I go back to work, and he ends up in a temporary day care because his real one is on vacation for two weeks. Arrrgh! To top it all off my MIL is coming to visit at the end of that week. In her case the acronym definitely stands for monster-in-law. <sigh>
I'm invoking my inner 'Dory' - just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

Today's my first day back at work. So far so good. I got to enjoy a hot cup of coffee today! Been getting updates from daycare and R seems to be doing good and big sis M likes having her sis with her at daycare...and the best thing to happen to me is that R slept through the night! She started stirring at her normal time and did a sleep cry but went back to bed.

Other than that, getting a lot more smiles from R. I love it. And she has found her hands and is starting to suck on them.

@honeygold89 - We are doing good! I started back to work last week and am missing my little girl terribly! She's become such a good little baby and receiving a lot of love at our babysitters. Big brother loves her but luckily pays little attention to her (he's not always that gentle).

Working on sleeping thru the night. She goes down at 9 but usually wakes up at 3ish and then again at 6. I shouldn't complain, I know that's pretty darn good - but my first was such an awesome sleeper (and I love my sleep).

Hope all is well with your LO's!
