My 9 mo has a fever since this morning. It's currently 101.7, but other than being cranky, he has no other symptoms at all. Not even stuffy. Any thoughts?

Could be Roseola. Where I work we generally recommend having kids under 1 seen if they have a fever with no other symptoms for 24+ hours.

@travellingbee: When T had Roseola this summer his fever started about that high and then got much higher for 3 days. No other symptoms other than fussiness due to high fever I'm assuming. Then the rash came.

My dd was like that with roseola too! But she was 2 at the time.

DD was like this with her ear infection. No other signs besides a fever.

My DD was like that with HFM. 101 fever with no other symptoms. A couple of days later, she broke out in a rash.

Mine usually get a fever for a few days before cold syptoms show up

@travellingbee: For us with DD1 a fever with no other signs was always an ear infection. She never even really fussed that much...
Although...with HFM she never had any sores really so the fever which then broke with a reddish rash on her trunk was also the only sign.

This is an old post but I'm curious what your LO had? My son has had a fever for 5 days, no symptoms. It goes up and down, but never below 100. Dr says he is fine. He had roseola when he was 10 mons old. I haven't seen any rash yet.

@Teachermama: my doc also said not to worry when my son spiked between 103-104 for 4 days. He said look at the symptoms, not the fever. He was definitely sick but there's nothing we could do, it was just a virus. He healed completely and hasn't gotten that sick again in months !

@pachamama: glad to hear your little guy hasnt been sick that bad. I sorta gave up on medicating on day 4. And the fever stayed lower, till today, day 6 it's gone. I've read the research about not medicating fevers, but still listened to doc who said to give meds every 6 hrs, I felt like the fever kept going high even with medicine. Bummed now that my baby, 1 yr old, now has a fever and she's also teething.

Whenever my kids have a fever with no other symptoms it turns out to be an ear infection.

@Teachermama: man, I can't remember! This would have been December.... probably just a random virus.
