What did you get your child for his/her first birthday?

We got a Click Clack Alligator Walker that I picked up at a garage sale. I knew she was going to get a ton of gifts from family and friends, so we didn't want to go overboard.

Anywhere chair.
Other gifts she got was a indoor tent/castle, Cozy Coupe, and a water table.

Clothes and puzzles and I don't remember the rest!

Our LO's 1st birthday isn't for a few months but her big gift is going to be a rocking animal (not sure which one but maybe this: http://www.wayfair.com/Happy-Trails-Dagwood-Dragon-Rocker-80-C7051-HPQ1029.html). Then we'll just get her a few small things. My husband wants to get her some proper blocks and some toy cars.

I don't really remember other than clothes...my parents got her a kitchen!

i always like to gift books for first birthdays and flashcards since they don't know any better anyway!

An enormous stuffed puppy dog he grabbed in Target and seemed so in love with, so we bought it for him, and a little elephant push toy.

I think I got some more development focused toys than he had gotten for Christmas - blocks, sorting things. And a lot of feeding stuff. But I used gift cards we got for his birth, haha. And shock of shocks, we didn't even do a party!
For my second, we will probably do a bathing suit and summer hat. Just a few practical things.

A slide for LO1. LO2 not sure yet.

We got him some books since I knew he was going to get toys from family. Also I felt that I wanted to give him something sentimental since he wouldn't remember that birthday anyway. So I crocheted him a fullsized blanket out of a really nice yarn that he can keep.

A Doug and Melissa baby, baby grand toddler piano. Still plays with it!

We got him the ikea play kitchen. We asked for donations instead of gifts for his party, so we decided to get him something big since he wasn't getting much else. Not that he knew the difference at 1 anyway!

It's going to be a doll stroller, a balance bike and a nursing dog.

A ball and a puppet.
ETA: and a book.

We got her a wheely bug ride on toy. I can't remember if we got her anything else to go with it.

We've got him one of those big pull along plastic wagons. It's hiding in the garage until his party. Not that he would know any different lol

@Leah: haha I should have added toy at the end or something. We got her the cat for Christmas and she adores it so we're thinking the dog for her birthday and the lamb for Easter

Her birthday is coming up and I think we are going to get her a water table, some books, and her first baby doll. My mom wants to get her a wagon!

We got her the zany zoo activity cube, she loved it, still plays with it occasionally at 2 1/2. She also got a Cozy Coupe (best gift by far), battery powered 4 wheeler, water table.
