First meal after giving birth?

I have no idea! The first 24 hours after my kids were born were sort of a blur. Actually, I can't remember anything I ate for a while after. I think my parents brought bagels the next day and I ate that? I don't know what or when I ate the day they were born, though. I was really drugged up.

I have absolutely no idea. I do remember being very thirsty and they said they could only give me ice chips. I don't even remember what my first drink was.

@mediagirl: Chick-fil-a in your hospital? So jealous!

@bluestriped bee: they had the sandwiches brought in. No waffle fries.

After DS I had biscuits and gravy and OJ. I was so excited. I hadn't eaten for three days. With DD I think someone brought me waffles and bacon and a smoothie. I remember sharing with DH because I hadn't fasted or had a long labor so I wasn't that hungry.

With DD I was staaarving but the nurses wouldn't let me have anything (c-section) so DH snuck me a cherry chocolate cupcake and S'mores hot chocolate. Best meal ever!

After DS I felt way too nauseous to care about food. The next morning I had clear liquids - jello, soup..... It was almost 24 hours after surgery before I wanted proper food.

I had the exact same meal after birth (dinner) as I had before birth (lunch). A cheeseburger, Caesar salad, chocolate milk, baked potato with the fixins, angel food cake with berries and whipped cream, and a ginger ale. I ordered it for lunch from the hospital menu after being denied food for 12 hours, right before they started my induction. It was so satisfying I ordered it again for dinner!

It had been 35 hours since I had eaten and it was 2am when I finally got to my pp room, so the nurses brought me 2 turkey sandwiches. I was so so hungry from my long and hellish labor that these cold, plain sandwiches seemed amazing.

about half hour after I delivered, while still in the delivery room, the nurse brought me a protein box. I think it had peanut butter, crackers, yogurt, raisins, and some other things. I have no recollection of what my first action meal was.

I had hospital food the (almost) week I was there after giving birth. I don't know if it was my hormones or the high of giving birth but the hospital food always tastes delicious. The problem was, I ate and ate and didn't realize that going poop can be a problem after. After 2 weeks of holding all that food I had my "second labor" in the bathroom. The pain was almost as bad as actually labor.

I hadn't eaten for about 35 hours and I was on a liquid diet after my c section. I think the first thing I ate was orange sherbet, then applesauce a few hours later and finally a turkey club sandwitch. I honestly didn't mind not eating because I wasn't hungry at all. I didn't get hungry until a few days after I got home.

I hope I get to enjoy my first meal next time!

I was still in the delivery room. It was hospital pizza with a chocolate malt. I had GD so it was the best pizza and malt I've ever tasted (I'm sure it was terrible) but after going without for three months it was heaven.

Cheeseburger and fries. I barely ate any of it though, I was in such a haze of exhaustion and complete wonderment of my daughter. By the time I delivered, I'd been awake for well over 24 hours and didn't have much sense of what time it was.

Oh this was SUCH a glorious moment for me, I think I was happier about that victory meal than I was to hold my daughter for the first time (kidding, maybe). I was disappointed that the sushi truck next door was closed since it was Sunday, but we ordered a huge pizza from my favorite neighborhood joint and they delivered to the room. Apparently they are very frequent visitors to the birth center in that hospital.

I delivered at 11:30pm and hadnt eaten since about 7am. Around 8ish i had my husband call a local sandwich shop and order hoagies and he met the delivery guy at the hospital front doors. The nurses kept them in their fridge for us until after i delivered. Best Turkey hoagie I've ever eaten!

With both of mine the cafeteria had just closed by the time I was ready to eat. I think DH scrounged up some fruit salad with my first and I just had trail mix with my second. I had to wait until morning to get real food.

First time I delivered at 12pm and it was a hospital shepherds pie. It tasted like the best food ever. Second time it was 5am so I just had tea and toast.

Pizza the first time from a local artisanal pizza shop (so effing good!) with my first.
A breakfast bagel sandwich with my second.

Mac and Cheese from the hospital cafeteria. It's a really yummy pepper jack kind.

I think it was baked ziti, salad, and garlic bread (from the hospital). I was starving and it tasted so good.

LO1: My parents offered to get food but I totally forgot labor was over and I could eat and I passed. The hospital only had a chicken salad sandwich which I would normally turn my nose up at (I HATE mayo) but I was more hungry than I had ever been.

LO2: DH ran out to get Jack in the Box. Ha ha, 2nd babies.

I did not care as long as it was not crummy hospital food. My husband got me a sandwich from the Au Bon Pain in the hospital. That was fine.

My very first meal after delivery was gross hospital breakfast I was induced, so I didn't eat for a whole day while in labor and then I gave birth at 4 am. When my family came to visit me, they brought salami, prosciutto, cheese, baguette, and fruit- yum!!! I really missed cured meats.

All I wanted after DD1 was proper nice deli ham (not the prepackaged stuff) and a proper French baguette - DH obliged on both fronts and it was amazing! I had avoided all deli meat during pregnancy and craved ham so badly!

With DD2, I didn't really abstain from any foods so I wasn't really craving anything. We were home four hours after she was born anyway and I think I had a bowl of cereal or something similar. Nothing too exciting!

I ordered applesauce and Frosted Flakes from the hospital cafeteria. Hahaha. It was early in the morning and nothing else looked good.

I refuse all hospital food. Ours is so gross. So I have a tradition - after both kids I've had my sister pick up Jimmy John's for us and then the morning after delivery/our night in the hospital my husband goes to get us take out breakfast from our favorite breakfast spot.

6inch oven roasted chicken breast sub from subway (I love subway) and a large diet coke! It was a pretty amazing meal since the last time I ate was that morning, 14 hours before.

Oh man, I delivered my first child in Saudi Arabia in the middle of Ramadan. Shops and restaurants don't open until evening time. My son was delivered at 7.20am and it was about 2pm by the time we were brought food by the hospital as there was a skeleton staff due to most staff/ patients fasting.

I knew my husband had packed the leftovers from the meal we had eaten out the night prior and I begged him to get it for me but it had been sitting in the car in 110f+ heat for a few hours so he wouldn't let me eat it!!!!

The kitchen was closed by the time my son was born, but the staff was really helpful and gave us all the take out menus. We got pesto gluten free pizza! Sometimes I tell my baby the story of the pizza when I put him to sleep at night.
