Not pregnant yet, but I just love thinking of names for future LOs. My grandmother's name is Opal, and I love the idea of using it is a middle name if we ever have a girl. My grandmother is such an awesome lady. I would love to honor her by using her name, but I am having a hard time thinking of first names that I like with it.
What first name do you think would go well with Opal as a middle name? Our last name is similar to Simmons.

Not sure what your name style is but I would probably do a longer name like Vivienne or Lauren or Catherine with Opal.

I like Vivienne and Josephine! I definitely like classic names, and I love names that can be shortened into a nickname.

I love Opal! Madeline or Olivia might work. Olivia might be too many oos but I think it's cute.

I think it would be cool to use a "younger" first name and mix with the classic of Opal, best of both worlds. But of course traditional first name would go as well.

@LuLu Mom: Those are all great suggestions. I love Emery, Clara, and Charlotte. My cousin's little girl's name is Emerson so I can't use it even though I love it.

I love Opal! I'd probably just do it for the first name. If I were using it for the middle, I'd choose something classic and longer like:
Catherine
Elizabeth
Josephine
Cecilia
Eleanor
Helena
Madeline
I'll also throw in my daughter's name because I love it - Alice. And For some reason I really like Sydney with Opal?

This is an old thread that I started a couple of years ago, but I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and we are definitely using Opal as her middle name.
Our current front runners for a first name are Eleanor and Adeline.

I like Eloise or Louisa with Opal (DH vetoed both for DD2). We also have an Elodie with could go well as well, but not very common.

My lo2 is an Eleanor so I'm biased but I love it, and I love Opal too! What I love about Eleanor is that there are sooo many great nicknames--we use Elsie, but also Ella, Ellie, Elsa, Nellie, Nell, Nora, Ellen, etc!
