I'd love to know if anyone has a set they really like. I'm thinking alphabet, number and animals/objects/shapes. Also, how early did you start them? I had a set when I was little that I LOVED and I'd like to get some for DD.

There are a bunch in the dollar section of Target right now! We just bought alphabet, counting, shapes and colors for $1 each.

I just bought a ton of the Target $1 section ones and laminated them. My daughter is 14.5 months and I started with 3 animal flash cards today along with 3 animal figurines that resemble the animals on the cards. She went nuts. Kept matching the animals to the cards and pointing out where the elephant/lion/zebra was when asked. I took another set and laminated them, punched holes and they're great for keeping her busy when we are out shopping. She loves to flip through them and tell me what animals she sees. When she was itty bitty we used the Wee Gallery black and white cards and they were a big hit. She also has always loved the my first touch & feel cards.
