Sadly, most of the interactions I've had with little old ladies when I'm out shopping with DD3 have been negative - in the early days I had one go on a tirade about how it was too cold to have the baby out, then part ways with a - "Well, God bless her - God bless you both" with inflection that made it clear she meant "God help her with such a crap mother" more so than than a "What a lovely family you make."

But today - I was making a return at Target with DD3 in her carseat in the cart, and I asked an older lady using a motorized scooter if she was in line. She wasn't, but proceeded to start a conversation about the baby. She was saying how nasty it was outside and I steeled myself for the criticism to begin - but instead she said "I bet your mother in law is furious with you for taking her out today!" with a twinkle in her eye. I laughed and told her my MIL was from upstate, so she probably took her kids out in way nastier weather than we'd ever get here...we continued to chat for a few minutes and then she told me she totally got it about running errands while my other kids were in school...."but seriously, don't tell your MIL...unless you really want to irritate her!" Hilarious! I loved her spunk! Wonder what she has against MILs?

Have you had any funny (positive) conversations with random strangers about your little one recently?
