I had a return of about $250 worth of clothes from Gap, athleta, and Old Navy. Some of the items could only be returned by mail. I ordered a USPS pickup from the Old Navy website, with instructions that the item was on the front porch. When I came home, it looked like it had been picked up. Today I got a notice in the mailbox that they didn't pick it up because they couldn't find it.

Our front porch has rails, so it couldn't blow away (though I checked around anyway). We live in a very safe neighborhood, and this was in broad daylight. We have had many packages out on our porch and have never had a problem. I tried to call USPS and couldn't get a person. I called my credit card company, and they said we have to wait to file anything, but it was "very unlikely" that I would get a refund.

Any ideas? I am kicking myself because I debated on doing this since I am paranoid, but remembered that I had done it before, that it was in a Gap bag (I wouldn't think a thief would want clothing), and we have had expensive stuff sit on our front porch for days without a problem.
