I gave all 4 of my nephews (ages 9-12) gift cards to the Lego Store last year. One brother set requested them from all of the family as the were trying to save up to buy the Lego Death Star. I might do the same this year.

I wouldn't mind at all!

I give all my nieces and nephews gift cards - easy for me and they love it too!

eta; I do like to wrap them in a box with their favorite candy so you aren't just giving them a card

My SIL has actually requested gift cards for her 10 year old. It just is so much easier! And I recently gave my niece a book and $10 since I didn't know what else to get her. She then went on a little shopping spree with all the money she got for her birthday. It was great!

I would love for DD to get gift cards! Her birthday is in December but one kid only needs so many things at once. Gift cards would let us pick things up in the spring/summer.

When I give gift cards to kids I always wrap it and include one of the following: candy, a book, crayons/markers, stickers, or some other small under $5 item. That way they are actually opening something with it.

I always buy target gift cards for our older nieces and nephews (they're ages 5-15). They love them! I remember looking forward to spending gift cards after the holidays when I was a kid so I don't feel too bad.

My brother got LO a gift card to toys r us and it was fun to take him to pick out a few weeks later.
