I need help
My cousin is having her second baby - a girl. They have a closet full of clothes from friends of theirs who are done with kids and had girls. I need to get something but have no clue what to give. They have all of the essentials from their first LO and have kindly given us all of their boy clothes for My LO as he grows, so I am willing to spend $.

Maybe a gift for the mom, like a prenatal massage or a pedicure. You could also give practical gifts like diapers, baby shampoo/lotion, pacifiers, etc.

My go-to is always books. I'm obsessed with giving the babylit books as shower gifts.

Cash for her college fund. Seriously, we just hosted my son's 2nd birthday party, and one family just gave us a check for $25 instead of a gift for him. I thought it was hilarious and awesome. It will go straight to his 529 plan.
You could do that plus a token gift like a personalized item with the baby's name on it, or something disposable like diapers.
A gift certificate to an activity like a music or gym class, especially something that will also appeal to the older sibling.
Or you could offer to take her older child for a fun day trip. Zoo, museum, beach, whatever. Special attention for the older sib plus a break for the parents.

I agree with books and essentials in a size up. I'm just digging into size 2 diapers that someone gave me for LO2 (who was also a boy) and it's so nice to have them and not have to run out to buy them!
I tend to stay away from soaps since some babies can have reaction to certain soaps. So many people bought us J&J, and it dried out both of my boys' skin.

Get items that get grungy and that they would need fresh ones of. Some examples: hooded towels and washcloths, bottles, pacifiers, fancy bath products, teething toys, a lovey.

Personalized blanket or towel! Since the new baby will have so many hand-me-downs it will be nice to have something that is new and only hers.
A lovey? Angel Dear makes great ones. That is something that would not have been handed down. Can get a girly one.
Girly Pacifiers? I probably wouldn't reuse those for another LO.
Girly A+A swaddle blanket set or a dream blanket?

A second camera for their monitor? A rumble board for their stroller? A second diaper genie?
