A friend is going on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy and had a rowdy toddler to boot. I'm going to bring food but wanted to bring something else too, probably in the $15-20 range. Any ideas for her or her 3 year old?

When my friend went on bed rest I mailed her a trashy romance novel (she loves them), some candy, and nail polish.

When I was on bedrest, the biggest treat was for friends to come and visit and bring food. If you want to bring a gift, maybe some sort of activity or game for her child would be nice. I brought this with me to the hospital and my daughter enjoyed playing with me:

Thanks ladies! These are great ideas! She's had a huge outpouring of support right now so I am going to start collecting stuff and I'll deliver in two weeks once it's waned. We are going to Hershey tomorrow so it will be a good stop for candy!

When I was on bedrest I really enjoyed Netflix / Hulu. I had a sweet friend who offered me her login to both. I was just googling it and it looks like you can give gift cards in the $20 range for 3 months for Hulu. That would be a nice gesture!
I also enjoyed trashy magazines. I had a friend who brought me a whole stack when I was in the hospital - it was amazing. It also gave me something to talk about with people when they came to visit (you run out of topics fast when you haven't seen the outside world in awhile).

For the toddler, any independent, no-mess activities - Melissa & Doug restickable sticker sets, any coloring set with markers that ONLY color on the special paper, sets of plastic figures from a movie/show the LO likes - would all be so appreciated I'm sure. Honestly, even iTunes gift cards to get the toddler some more apps/shows, or the mom some new shows, would be great. Even single serving toddler-friendly snacks that don't require refrigeration might be helpful.
For mamma - snacks, an amazon gift card to buy books for an e-reader, a stack of trashy magazines, comfy pjs/yoga pants, a tervis cup w/ a lid and some drink mixes or herbal teas (to stay hydrated)....
So nice of you to organize this for her.

When I was put on hospital bedrest, I got a bunch of care packages.
Crossword puzzles, Sudoku books, adult coloring books, Sleeping masks, super soft socks, snacks & candy (non hospital food was so good), side of the bed book holder for books and magazines, oil infuser, pictures and photos to hang up, note pad & pen, notecard and stamps if they want to send out notes, amazon gift card so I can buy a book or an e-book and a few other things that I can't remember. Really anything to make my hospital stay a bit more comfortable.
I didn't have a kid at home so I have no advice about that.
