Definitely Legos. My son is 5 and a half and can't get enough. The Lego City sets are great for that age. Comic books (he’s reallllly into these! If you know if the kid likes super heroes I would recommend)
Craft stuff (loves little note books. I got a pencil case full of markers and a couple little note books and he loves it) -
